To think this is not a phone that's been off a long time or disconnected

Dh has been trying to get in touch with an old work friend. Dh has rung the phone twice and it's rung once. He's saying he believes the phone has been disconnected or has been off a long time. From my understanding if a phone has been off a long time it wouldn't ring at all.

Thats what it sounded like when my mum accidently blocked me.

If it rings once or goes straight to voicemail are signs of being blocked.

He’s been blocked

Oh didn't think of that.

If it goes straight to voicemail it's usually off or in an unavailable area, not blocked.

I work in a field where people really don't block the number and get that quite a lot.

A disconnected phone however gives a particular message along the lines of "this number is no longer in service" or "it has not been possible to connect you."

I get one ring then voicemail on lots of calls, it’s just connecting to the answerphone. Unless my husband sporadically blocks and unblocks me during the day, especially before driving through areas known to have low to no signal on our work journey.

Try calling from a different number?

The signal in my house is rubbish. This means calls go straight to voicemail. Some people think I am doing this deliberately but I'm not.
