Getting music from an iPod to a MacBook... can it be done?

The hard drive of my MacBook failed recently. I've had it replaced, but of course, everything on it went phut, including a lot of music.

I've got most of the lost music on my iPod Touch, but I don't have some of it anywhere else. That's fine, but the iPod is ten years old, and it's not going to last forever. I can't find any way to get tracks from the iPod onto the MacBook, does anyone know if I can do this? The one time I asked an Apple employee, they said that officially I couldn't, but in reality I could... okay, then.

This is all music that I've paid for (CD's that I put onto the hard drive and then gave away) so I'm not trying to pull a fast one.

TIA.

You can backload from an iPod using a program called Senuti (iTunes reversed basically)
I've done it in the past with the kids iPods to put all music onto one drive.

Very simple, install program, plug in iPod and it pulls everything off it.
