It’s been out for 40 mins room temp and I noticed there’s a lot of blood around it already on top?? Is this normal or do I need to go on a turkey hunt and buy another one 😞

Isn't it in a printed wrapping?

user1471530109 · 23/12/2018 10:18

That just looks like the bag it's in to me Grin!

pinkhorse · 23/12/2018 10:19

It's the colour of the bag isn't it?

Sitranced · 23/12/2018 10:20

It doesn't look like wrapping to me. I've got no idea if it's normal but I wouldn't be able to cook that

LittleCandle · 23/12/2018 10:21

Take the bag off and it will defrost more quickly. You can take any gibblets out later.

DrWhy · 23/12/2018 10:21

That’s the bag! Where the frost is melting you can see the colour!

southnownorth · 23/12/2018 10:22

Wipe some more of the frost away, I think it may be the wrapping?

StoorieHoose · 23/12/2018 10:22

Scrape some of the ice off the packaging. It looks red to me Grin

SantasBassoon · 23/12/2018 10:22

It's the colour of the packaging where the thin layer of ice has melted in places.

Pinkgin50 · 23/12/2018 10:22

I also think it looks like the wrapper.

TeddyIsaHe · 23/12/2018 10:23

It’s just the wrapper, wipe off more frost and you’ll see.

Even if it is blood, what do you think animals are full of? It’s fine. To not cook a turkey because of its juices is hilarious and ridiculous.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 23/12/2018 10:23

Yes it is I think I will go back to bed 🙈🙈🙈🙈😬

AnnaMagnani · 23/12/2018 10:24

Normal. It's just trapped in the bag. Meat defrosted weeps bloody looking fluid. Yours is trapped on top because of the tight wrapping.

Try to get the wrapping off.

OhTheRoses · 23/12/2018 10:24

Take it out of the plastic and have a good look at it. It may just be the way it has been hung a little blood has been left behind. Shouldn't be a problem at all particularly bearing in mind that some of the blood from the cockerel was added to coq au vin traditionally.

Poultry has blood and claws and feathers it's just that our modern day lives are ridiculously sanitised. I remember when the chicken feet got boiled up with the giblets for stock.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 23/12/2018 10:25

I don’t normally have a frozen turkey and I just thought the blood had pooled to the top which seemed quite strange 😬

Dickorydockwhatthe · 23/12/2018 10:26

It’s definantly the wrapping 🙈🙈🙈
