Worst flight ever

Left hotel at 1am Friday morning to go to airport for 430am flight. Waited until 2pm, when they told us flight was cancelled due to technical problems.

Went back to hotel. Returned to airport at 8am Saturday for 11am flight. Crew didnt arrive. Flight eventually left at 4pm. Landed at 11pm for connection. Next flight not until 9am. Can't go to hotel as i dont have a visa for stopover country. That's 10 hours in the airport. I purposefully only considered journeys with short stopover as i am travelling alone with 2 children and i have a painful disability. Nobody here gives a shit. The airline desk have been rude and unhelpful. I've cried, for the first time in bloody years. Paid with credit card to enter lounge so kids can get some sleep on 2 uncomfortable chairs pushed together. Gross men snoring and farting all around us

SadSadSad

MyOtherProfile · 23/12/2018 03:48

Will you be collected from the airport?

PoorRelation · 23/12/2018 03:55

Nope! Then 2 hour bus journey and a taxi ride to get home

I can't explain how pissed off i am

I made this account just to reply to you...I have a disability that makes flying bad on a good day. My heart goes out to you and I am sending you good thoughts, hoping they do something for your situation. Just know this is temporary even though it feels horrible now. And you are not alone!

MyOtherProfile · 23/12/2018 04:05

What a nightmare. Is this after a holiday 9r do you live abroad?

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 23/12/2018 04:10

Oh that sounds just awful! I was delayed for five hours at Sydney airport a few days ago, including three hours on the tarmac while they checked for hail damage, and that was bloody uncomfortable enough! I really feel for you!

MrWolfknowsthetime · 23/12/2018 04:12

Oh my word, that sounds miserable.

I hope you get awesome Christmas presents this year, you deserve it Flowers

Sexnotgender · 23/12/2018 04:22

That sounds utterly horrendous.

PoorRelation · 23/12/2018 04:25

It is after a holiday. An amazing holiday. Which I saved for 9 years to take us on. Youngest first ever time on a plane.

Just got to gate for flight and realised the seats they have given us are nowhere near each other!! I am so close to completely loosing it

I will happily pay extra for direct flights. That’s not always possible and depends on your final destination but I have chosen destinations based on availability of direct flights in the past.

Airline staff are just doing their jobs and, unfortunately, often don’t seem to understand the concept of customer service. But you can’t blame them for a technical fault. In fact, if there is anyone to ‘blame’, you will probabky never come into contact with them. The customer service reps you see have very little authority or accountability.

Modern airline travel is to be endured, not enjoyed.

jessstan2 · 23/12/2018 04:30

Oh bless you. It all sounds horribly uncomfortable, I'd hate it even without a disability and two young children.

It will soon be over PoorRelation. Won't it be nice to be back in your own home, in your own bed. I am going to wish the next few hours away.

Wine Flowers

I got some painkillers on-board whilst hunkered up in the lounge. I was withholding whilst travelling with kids, as they make me sleepy. I am not such a wreck now

I know technical issues are no one's fault. But appalling customer 'care' really IS

That sounds dreadful @PoorRelation

I hope it's over soon and a quick recovery.

ShalomJackie · 23/12/2018 11:41

I wouldn't worry too much about seats not being together. Once they realise you have 2 kids on a long flight they will miraculously fund some together.

DaisyDreaming · 23/12/2018 13:58

I’m sorry you’re having such a nightmare. I hope you are now home and in your own bed
