Apple want £79 for a battery for an (ancient) iPhone 5c! Where can I get a cheaper one?

This is for my wife's phone which works fine but the battery has started losing it's charge quite quickly.
Is it difficult to replace?
Thanks

You're probably better off just buying a second hand iPhone. You can get a used SE for not much more than that.

When I took my 5s to the Apple store to replace the battery, they knackered the phone when removing it, as apparently it’s really hard to get out.

They gave me a brand new 5s for no charge - a cheaper place may not do this.

I would recommend that you do an iCloud backup before the battery is changed just in case.

The same thing is happening to my iPhone 6.

If you get to Apple sharpish, they will fit a new battery to a 6 for £25 ( until 31/12)

My local mobile phone shop replaced the battery on my iPhone 5 for £30.

Unfortunately I’m nowhere near an apple shop

The offer Mayhew mentioned doesn't apply to 5c phones
