Hello, I work in a field where we rely heavily on volunteers. Our area couldn't run without volunteers and I see on a daily basis the difference they make.

I just wanted to come on here and raise a metaphorical glass to all those who volunteer. You really are stars and I'm sure you get told this enough but I hope you realise the difference you make to people. Here's to you xxx Wine

Totally agree, my DC go to activities that rely on volunteers - I’m very grateful to all volunteers on Mumsnet who contribute to their community/society.

Glass raised. My local RNLI station recently shared this excellent and thought provoking message. It apllies to the vast majority of volunteers and for many this time of year is when their services are most in demand.

I am a volunteer with a parent support charity so am raising a glass to my fellow volunteers with that and all volunteers everywhere. People giving their time makes such a difference.

Our primary school was one of the most successful in the country because in part of the parent volunteers.

They ran clubs for free, they helped with reading, they did Saturdays in the playground cleaning and painting and planting, they accompnaied kids on the school trips, they raised money and attended events.

The church does so much for the elderly, the homeless and the lost in our area.

The CAB is wonderful and helps so many people - mostly staffed by volunteers. Thank you.
