Chanel no 5 help please

I plan to buy Chanel no 5 online as a gift. There seems to be a L'Eau version (pale liquid) and an Eua de Parfum (orange liquid).

Do they both smell the same?

I know it's subjective, but is one nicer than the other?

The l'eau is lighter, some might say better for day wear. The parfum is the classic, long lasting and deep fragrance. Hth.

eau de parfum is more concentrated and as such will last longer. They should both smell the same though there may be a subtle difference.

Having said that I prefer EDT for my Chanel no.19 so maybe the difference is less subtle than I suggest. Great gift either way!

I always use No.5 EDP as it lasts all day and night. You only need one sprits so lasts ages (good job as it costs a fortune, on my budget anyway)

The n 5 "eau" as pp says is a completely different perfume to N5 classic. (In the same way that YSL Opium and Black Opium are totally different for example)
Be careful buying Chanel online. The house heavily regulates who it allows to sell, so there are lots of fakes on the market.

I am in my 50s and prefer the original. Dd is 15 and hates it but likes the Eau!

I am older and like the original too. A bit deeper, richer, heavier, (like me!!)

DD (20) likes the lighter version, (fresher, lighter, zingier)
