Lego store sang happy birthday

I was in the Lego store in London and a kid was wearing a "5" badge and staff noticed and got everyone in the store to sing happy birthday. They also gave the kid free Lego. It was so sweet and unexpected. It got me wondering....what other shops, businesses, restaurants etc do things like this for kids on their birthdays?

If you go to the Harry Potter studios in London on your birthday you get a badge, you get to open the doors to the Great Hall, and every member of staff on the way round who spots your badge will wish you happy birthday.

It totally made my son’s 10th birthday.

Build a bear did this on DDs 7th birthday, made a real fuss. They lifted her up, stood her on a box, rang a bell and sang happy birthday. No freebies but you can buy the birthday bear for the cost of their age. Hamleys in London did similar.

Don't mind the kids.

In the heineken factory in Amsterdam, anyone doing the tour on their birthday gets a lovely delft beer mug to keep and unlimited top ups at a separate birthday table. Everyone else just gets a couple of small beers. Dh was disgusted as I'm not a major heineken drinker so only had a couple anyway. He reckons he'd have made much better use of it 😁

TGI sing their happy birthday song, give you a slice of cake and a hat...if you sign up on their app then you also get a free cocktail for everyone at your table!

I know this because I signed up on the app when we went last week and lied that my birthday was then so we’d get free cocktails (it’s actually in June)...turns out when you show them the code it then tells them it’s your birthday so you have to sit through the entire, excruciating ordeal! Won’t do that again in a hurry!

I flew back to the US to stay with family with AA one year on my birthday.

Crew announced the fact it was my birthday to the whole Coach Class, everyone sang Happy Birthday to Shades and toasted me in a glass of something free and fizzy. WineGrin

Sometimes, ya gotta love 'emSmile

Another one saying build a bear make birthdays very special. My daughter was delighted! It was a highlight of the day.

She got a huge fuss made of her, lots of enthusiasm. Ran about the shop sprinkling magic dust, rang a bell, the whole shop stopped and sang to her. She got stickers, a special poster to hold for a photo and lots and lots of smiles.

DH took me off on a surprise weekend away for my fortieth. He doesn't remember mentioning anything about a surprise or my birthday when he booked (by telephone) but halfway through the flight a bottle of fizz and two glasses appeared, and I was wished a happy birthday over the tannoy.
That was Virgin.

AviatorShades · 23/12/2018 16:19

lowbrow they'll have picked up your details when you booked - brill, isn't it?

IncyWincyGrownUp · 23/12/2018 22:22

Build a bear we’re ace when my daughter was four - she had a party, and got a free bear that all her friends signed. She still has it somewhere, and she’s nearly 16. I doubt they do that any more.

Last year I was working but booked a Santa Express train trip for DS 6th Birthday. Bought him a giant badge and gave DH strict instructions to pop it on the front of his coat.

Apparently the choir that was singing carols noticed it and the whole platform ended up singing Happy Birthday to him.

Xmas Grin He was 7 today, DD (5) spent about 15 mins reminiscing about the santa express earlier...

I spent my 33rd birthday at Disney Florida. The kids made me wear a huge ‘It’s my birthday’ badge.
Every single member of Disney staff said happy birthday to me and I received several renditions of Happy Birthday while wandering through the park. I even got a special birthday balloon hat made for me. The kids insisted I wear it all day too.
Longest day at Disney ever Blush

Yesterday was DS's birthday. He had a giant birthday badge on at the -Harry Potter Studio Tour and he got to open the Great Hall doors. The lady at the entrance have him a birthday badge as well and lots of the staff said happy birthday. It really made his day.
We then went to TGI Fridays nearby so he got the cake, clapping and singing happy birthday too!
