I've parked outside someone's house and they are not happy

Waiting to go and visit friends. Hadn't written their cards. Pulled up a few streets away to sort them and just about to leave. House I'm parked (perfectly legally) opposite doesn't appear happy.

Been here 15 mins.

They keep peering out the windows. Have opened and shut the front door twice on some kind of errand. That appeared like they just wanted a nosey.

Give them a wave.

WeaselsRising · 21/12/2018 14:26

Perhaps they are expecting someone. Or, like me, they are worried about someone sitting in a strange car apparently watching a house. Heard of Neighbourhood Watch?

PointlessPigeon · 21/12/2018 14:28

Now another neighbour has come out and is wiping her wheelie bin lid while staring at me.

They clearly don't get visitors round here much.

Haha some people are so territorial, one of my friends used to have a neighbour who wouldnt park on his own large driveway suitable for multiple cars, instead he would park outside the front of his house as he didnt want anyone else parking there. 😂

PointlessPigeon · 21/12/2018 14:29

I'm.wrapping Christmas presents in my car in broad day light. Not spying on them with binoculars and making a map of the area.

Are you wearing a striped jumper and have a bag marked "swag"?

Auntiepatricia · 21/12/2018 14:32

Start winding back your chair and get comfy for a nice long nap.

PointlessPigeon · 21/12/2018 14:33

No. But I have a "how to stay out of prison now you've been released" book on the passenger seat?

Once had a printed note left under our windscreen wiper telling us not to park on their road. Smallish quiet village, no permits.
Not parked in front of a drive or on double yellows or in a disabled bay...

Some people are just fucking strange!

Piffpaffpoff · 21/12/2018 14:35

We’ve had a lot of burglaries around ours the last couple of weeks so I’m hyper-vigilant at the moment about anyone walking by, sitting in a car etc. Can’t help it. Perhaps they are the same?

Or perhaps they are just nutters😂.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 21/12/2018 14:36

Have you switched off your engine?

Avegemitesandwich · 21/12/2018 14:37

I had this where a guy on my boyfriends Road would get really shitty about me parking outside his house. Not a private road, not in front of his drive, not on a drop kerb, double yellow, disabled or permits only section, I was perfectly entitled to do so, but he still got shitty every time I did it. Twat.

Fuckyousanta · 21/12/2018 14:38

Self appointed parking wardens are the fucking worst. Officious bloody bastards. Aside from disabled bays who really cares who parks where. Even when I had babies I couldn't care less about parent and child spaces.

user1495884620 · 21/12/2018 14:41

Perhaps they are drug dealers and they think you are staking them out (badly).

SnuggyBuggy · 21/12/2018 14:42

Is there a Facebook local group? See if you've been mentioned

ApolloandDaphne · 21/12/2018 14:50

People can be so weird!

Jaxhog · 21/12/2018 14:52

Are you wearing a striped jumper and have a bag marked "swag"?

That'll be the reason! Seriously, I wouldn't worry. They're just being vigilant about an unkown car parked with someone sitting in it. If they're really concerned they'll come and tap on your window. We occasionally get dodgy people people parking in our road (we're a cul-de-sac). They almost (not always) turn out to be completely innocent! But we monitor anyway, because you never know.

WTFpeople · 21/12/2018 14:53

Xmas Grin Are you on my road? I have a neighbour a few doors down who will NOT park in his large drive. Instead he parks in the road across from my drive and he will go batshit if anyone dares to park in 'his spot'. I live in a small, strange village though so if anyone saw you parking in 'his' spot they would all come out to dust the bins. Except number 12 (if you look up you can just see her curtains twitching) who's binoculars have already spotted the book on your seat and she's registered that along with your cards and wrapping skills in her daily log book. Welcome to hell! Xmas Grin

SirGawain · 21/12/2018 14:54

They probably think that you’re casing the place to plan a burglary!

TinselAndKnickers · 21/12/2018 14:55

Do you have a comical clown horn sound if you press the horn? If not, could you play it really loudly on your phone? Grin

ButteryParsnips · 21/12/2018 14:56

When the next one comes out, catch their eye and wave enthusiastically as if you know them. That'll confuse them.

Shootingstar20 · 21/12/2018 14:58

I’ve parked on a road before and the residents moved their cars and surrounded mine so I couldn’t get out once 😂😂 neighbourhoods like that scare me.

Pandamodium · 21/12/2018 14:58

Now another neighbour has come out and is wiping her wheelie bin lid while staring at me.

If thats my granny eying you up she's just really fucking nosy Grin

Oldraver · 21/12/2018 14:59

I live on a very quiet street, very few people park ont he street.

Apart from next door but one (who had room on his drive). Woe betide if you parked anyway near his house...he would get his wifes car off the drive and block you in

ThisIsWhatItSoundsLike · 21/12/2018 15:00

Apollo GrinGrin was going to say our local Facebook group post regularly with strange vehicles parking/driving up streets.
It's funny really (rural village) some people are strange.
