animation software

I can't find the one thing I know my DD would love for Christmas, animation software that is appropriate for her age. She is 12. The animation kits aimed at children are very childish. The only thing I can find is Adobe Animate but I feel is way too advanced and she'll only use 10% of the features, so a bit expensive really. Is there anything in between?

Did she try The Sims, obviously different kind of animation but suitable for this age and has so many interesting features.

Is it stop-motion, 2d or 3D?

I think 2-D, something she can do on her ipad
