Im with you bookmum the only real extra i bought was smoked salmon and a few pate. Just a different one to the cheap one i buy! What i bought today (£134) will last me forbthe next 3 weeks! No alcohol as we don’t really indulge

NotCitrus · 21/12/2018 21:39

Was going to get more food today but the meat order was about twice as large as expected (the hardship!) so had no space in my trolley for veg. I'll walk to the shops in the morning - not taking a car anywhere near!

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 21/12/2018 21:46

Lol! #SauvignonBlanche

Just got mine delivered. I've just gazed into the fridge, smiling, for about 10 mins. Going to tuck into a cheese board for supper Smile

Ragwort · 21/12/2018 21:50

6.30 am at Morrisons this morning was great, fantastic customer service, am going to write to the Manager.
I don’t go mad with food shopping but we are hosting a drinks party so 90% of the shop was for that. Smile. And the other 10% was personal treats for me !

Samcro · 21/12/2018 21:54

Did my last bit this morning, went early and it was already getting busy. The only down side was all the online shops going on and getting in the way. Buti smiled atthe guys cos its a shitjob.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 21/12/2018 21:55

I need to get veg , soya milk ( they had none of the Alpro Original today Hmm ) .
Have to get Sainsbury Maris Piper . I;ve tried others in the past ( King Edwatds, Tesco, Aldi, Asda ........... none compare)

Last year I went out on Christmas Eve with DH "Oh we've got loads of bread" said he , airily . It was fecking mouldy .
So I'll send him to the gym and I'll shop Alone .
Not sure if Sunday or Monday though

Mum2jenny · 21/12/2018 21:58

Got the food for Xmas day but nothing to eat until then! I'm guessing I'll have to go shopping tomorrow! Or else be very very creative. Egg and potatoes for several days???

Mokepon · 21/12/2018 22:02

I just don't get it.
I mean, I know lots of people have family get togethers but surely that means less people shopping as they are getting fed elsewhere? Confused
I buy a few extra nice nibbly bits but it's just a roast dinner.
But thankfully done. Just need to pick up bread, which DH will do at stupid o'clock as he's night shift.

Mokepon · 21/12/2018 22:04

@Mum2jenny...Spanish omlette??

Stripyhoglets1 · 21/12/2018 22:04

I buy alot more before Christmas as I have lots of people coming to stay - I don't understand why people always seem so surprised that people might be buying extra at the time of year when people traditionally have celebratory meals with guests.

Highfever · 21/12/2018 22:08

I've got a birthday party to do so sending OH for the pizzas Saturday night. Will it be rammed ( do I really care I've done everything else). He can get the few things I've forgotten then. Meat being collected Sunday from butchers.

Mokepon · 21/12/2018 22:13

But that's it @Stripyhoglets1. I expect less people to buy more food.
Not everyone going mental. Grin

FogCutter · 21/12/2018 22:18

I'm doing my food shop on Xmas Eve morning.

People go 😱 when I tell them!

I do this every year, it's never stupidly busy and I always get nice food.

bluechameleon · 21/12/2018 22:18

We're going to family so I don't need to do a Christmas shop, but I went to Tesco for a few things this afternoon and didn't have to queue at all.

Andro · 21/12/2018 22:20

I mean, I know lots of people have family get togethers but surely that means less people shopping as they are getting fed elsewhere?

Half my guests have flown in from other countries, the rest will only be with me for Christmas day and are hosing on other days...lots of big shops!

Mum2jenny · 21/12/2018 22:22

Mokepon Spanish omelette is ok for one meal but not for saturday, Sunday and Monday meals.

I have no option but to hit the shops, the only decision is it going to be 6am on Monday or sometime this weekend!!

Moominfan · 21/12/2018 22:41

Bluechameleon that gives me hope!

fleshmarketclose · 21/12/2018 22:44

I went tonight and it was dead in store, got everything I needed, no queues at the till absolutely brilliant don't usually time it so well.

Osirus · 21/12/2018 23:11

We finished ours in Tesco this evening at about 6.30pm. It wasn’t particularly busy and didn’t even have to wait at the checkout.

I get our usual weekly shop delivered but couldn’t risk it at Christmas - I couldn’t cope if something crucial was unavailable, or (sometimes worse!) replaces!

Osirus · 21/12/2018 23:11

*replaced

PickAChew · 21/12/2018 23:19

I have me veg.
Sainsburys delivering booze and bog standard week to week stuff like daz, tomorrow night.
DH picking up meat from markses (walking distance!) Sunday afternoon.
For anything we've forgotten or doesn't show up, there's a coop across the road. I cab recommend them to anyone still in need of beer and wine, in fact. If coop don't have it, there's a sainsburys local 5 minutes away or a bigger coop about 15 minutes walk!

Scoose · 21/12/2018 23:21

Done today just got to collect the meat on Sunday Sainsbury's wasn't too bad this morning

PickAChew · 21/12/2018 23:21

70, if you can't get the maris piper, get roosters. You'll not regret it.

safariboot · 21/12/2018 23:24

Delivery tomorrow, but from previous experience chances are something will be not delivered and no substitute and I'll have to drive to a supermarket on Christmas Eve.
