Hand foot and mouth - when can we go out again

DS has had a fairly mild dose - no fever and only one spot with a head, but clearly feeling ill and reluctant to eat. The spots started as little pimples on Monday / Tuesday, we had an awful night on Tuesday (but think he was also cutting two molars, poor little blot), he got his single pimple type spot on Wednesday, and was a bit better yesterday. Today he seems pretty much fine again, has slept right through, woken up smiling and demolished two courses of breakfast, the little hobbit.

So are we now no longer infectious? I'm not thinking of heading for soft play or anything, but a trip to the playground and coffee shop in the next village would be good. Obviously the last thing I want to do is give any innocent bystanders HFM for Christmas though!

What do you think? Would I be totally unreasonable and terrible to take him to places with people - should we stick to the woods?

Nhs advice is you can carry on as normal if the child feels ok. Your ds will be shedding the virus for months so it's pretty much uncontainable anyway! I hope he feels better soon.

Thanks Smile He's much better today thanks - laughing and jumping again. Poor little bugger, he was miserable a couple of days ago.

Right, off and out we go - if the weather picks up a little, it's a bit wild and woolly at the moment!
