Own nail varnish for 6 year old?

Is it a bit young? At the moment she's allowed some of mine (toes only, sucks her thumb!) when I do mine. So it's very much I get to decide when she has it and its only a 2-3 times a year. Whereas if it hers then she may well want to wear it more often.

Nah its fine. I used to paint my nails regularly even at a young age.

DD(6) is allowed for parties and special occasions (and the odd weekend).

My advice is don't buy children's nail varnish tho, I bought a Frozen pack for 2 for her and they are so globby and unusable. Just a cheap normal adult one!

Oh also the fact they can't wear it at school helps because I just normally say there's no point putting it on only to take it off soon (Sunday evening).

One word... Carpets ! I speak from bitter experience. Even the most sensible, careful child is prone to an accident or two or three ( especially when friends come round )!!

What about nail foil things instead, then dd can have sparkly nails without the bother of varnish.

You can also get child-friendly nail varnish (dd has a num nums one) but it doesn't really stay on, it is more just the act of painting nails that's the appeal I guess.

At that age I only let my DD have fingernail friends nail stickers www.waterstones.com/product/unicorn-fingernail-friends-and-cuticle-tattoos/5037200061284 There are loads of different ones to choose from. We got a butterfly one in John Lewis and they even have a monster one!

I don't think there is any need for them to have their own. It's just asking for trouble (read:messy). I have a rack of nail polish in my ensuit. They are free to take their pick and paint their toe nails supervised or have me paint them because school doesn't let them have polish on their fingers so when little I just put clear sparkles on. On breaks they can have whatever color they want. Except red, Dh has some weird aversion to red nail polish on little girls so red is banned in our house until you are 16.

My DD2 is 8.5 and this Christmas is the first time I’ve let her have her own nail polish Confused I just didn’t trust her before not to spill it try paint her leg or something lol. I got her some peel off nail polish to put in the advent and she seems happy with this so she can paint her toes like her big sister
