Relocating!

Hey, was hoping to get some advice/guidance/stories of relocating please!

Long story short - husband has a promotion opportunity, 5 hours away. Happens to be close to the ILs which would be great for the babies! I am on mat leave but would be able to get a job doing anything once settled!

What are the logistics of selling and buying? How long does it all take? Are there lots of dos and don'ts? Are we biting off more than we can chew? I feel anxious already and he doesn't even have the job official yet!!!!

So many variations!

Is it an internal promotion ? Actually, that doesn't necessarily matter. Many companies will help you sort your relocation as part of their 'package'.

Renting in your new area until you get the lay of the land is generally a good idea (although does mean 2 x moves).
Might not be needed if dh is "moving home" and knows the area well, but definitely a good idea if moving to an area you don't know.

Sounds like good timing with you perhaps having some more time to go up to the area and stay to look round / search houses etc.

Do you have older dc (need schools at the moment ?)
