Gift idea for recently bereaved colleague?

Posting on behalf of my DH, whose colleague (with whom he has a close working relationship) lost a relative over the weekend. He would like to get a small gift as om top of this she has recently split from her long term partner, and the office closes on Friday until the new year so there won't be work to take her mind off things.

I'm not really sure what to suggest and wondered if anyone had any ideas?

That's a tough one. A gift, however well meant, isn't actually going to make her feel any better though. I would suggest a bunch of flowers. Something not "funereal".

How about some flowers? It's enough to say 'we're thinking of you' but not so much it could make her feel uncomfortable?

Cross post!

How about one of the care packages from Don’t buy her flowers?

I received one after a recent bereavement and it was a lovely change from flowers.
