Magazine subscriptions for 6yo boy

Any suggestions? I'd like one of those boxes that comes monthly. He is a boxing day birthday so this might be a gift that spreads the joy through the year.

He likes ninjago, dinosaurs maybe, lego, perhaps sciencey stuff.

Thanks!

We subscribe to Whizz Pop Bang which is a sciencey magazine. Mine are 9 and 7 (SEN) though and I would say the 9 year old gets more out of it than the 7 year old, but that may be more to do with his lack of interest (in anything!).

It's a fine balance between something vaguely educational, but that they'll enjoy...

Idontmeanto · 19/12/2018 21:43

Mine loves National Geographic kids.

Aquilla used to be a hit with our boys.
Otherwise join RSPB and their magazine is good and suitable for 6 year old.

Okido magazine is good for that age too

We have had this delivered for the past 7 years. Kids now 14, 12 and 9. They have always pushed each other out of the way to get there first. DS2 would look through it when he couldn't even read and I am sure it helped him along the way!! Ds1 once said... 'how can it seem so long between each the arrival of each magazine (it's weekly) but as soon as it arrives it's like you have just finished reading the last one.'

Beano

Definitely

ProfessionallyUnoffended · 19/12/2018 22:12

My DD loved NG kids when she was younger. It's got a lot of content and not too many adverts like some children's magazines.

OComeAllYeFaithful · 19/12/2018 22:15

I second Whizz pop bang. My DD loves it.

Daisymay2 · 20/12/2018 19:30

Sorry - just spotted an advert for Aquilla and see it is for ages 8-12 so possibly too old for what you want.

rightreckoner · 20/12/2018 19:34

Beano is the only one that’s been a hit here. Tried some of the others but they can be earnest or just full of tat. Both mine love the Beano. Also had a hit with Toucan boxes which are craft projects by post.

itsboiledeggsagain · 21/12/2018 17:01

I'd forgotten I asked this. Thanks it looks like beano might be a winner.

Phoenix is more than I budgeted and Nat geo seems a bit educational

First News - kids weekly newspaper.
It’s fab - lots of competitions, interesting articles, celeb interviews etc

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/12/2018 18:20

We've had Phoenix and Nat Geo, both were excellent. I seem to remember a Lego one too.

AngryPrincess · 21/12/2018 20:15

Storybox or Adventure box are good.
