Liking the build up to Christmas more than the actual day...

I've realised today that Christmas Day leaves me feeling a bit flat. I've realised I much prefer the days leading up to Christmas, rather than the day itself.

Anyone else, or am I being a bit of a grinch?

I am definitely the same!!! I LOVE Christmas, but what that really means is I love Dec 1st-24th. Christmas Day gets so hyped up, the kids are usually terrors, family are a bit dull, you spend the day feeling sluggish and hot from so much cooking and food.....

I'm the same. Christmas Day is stressy and meh.

My DH & I both prefer Christmas Eve to actual Christmas Day. It’s the anticipation and excitement of what the next day may bring. Plus I love that time (somewhere between 2pm-4pm) when you reach the point of if it isn’t brought/done by now it’s not happening and can just relax.

Christmas eve also my favourite day. I love the anticipation, clean house, full fridge, clean kids in their controversial pyjamas, that contented and peaceful feeling.

I also enjoy the 26th. Extended family leave around lunch time and I can read a book and lounge in my pyjamas and eat shite all day. Kids are normally occupied with new stuff and there is no pressure to the day.

I also like tomorrow as finishing up in work and the 28th as my friend cooks a fabulous roast for us which I always enjoy way more than my xmas dinner.

Christmas days is too full on. Visitors, later night to be before, early morning, cooking, hosting, entertaining and an onslaught of wrapping paper and gifts throughout the day.

Christmas Eve is my favourite day of the year. All of the potential for a perfect Christmas ahead and none of the reality to dilute it.

Elfinablender (Love that name!) You've summed it up perfectly for me!

Boxing Day is my favourite, and the lazy days between Christmas and New Year. The Twelve Days of Christmas really.

Now until Christmas Eve my favourite. Hate seeing shops take down their decorations on Christmas Eve though. M&S I'm looking at you.

TheGonnagle · 19/12/2018 20:17

Christmas Eve is the best day of the year.

candlefloozy · 19/12/2018 20:18

Love love love Christmas Eve. The best day by far. I love when it gets dark and thinking next time I see daylight it will be Christmas. Once the dinners done though I feel all excitement has gone.

LoudestRoar · 20/12/2018 17:17

This time next week, it'll all be finished with!

I'm the same. I find Christmas day quite sad actually. But I like the excitement and the build up

LaurieFairyCake · 20/12/2018 18:06

Christmas Eve is also my favourite day. The hush that settles around the streets about 4pm as people return home to warmth and lights.
