Depression & working Christmas

Hi, looking for an bit of advice if anyone has experience similar. I have recently been prescribed anti depressants as I have not been myself for a few months now. Long story short I started a new job at the start of the year and realized it is not for me at all I cry all the time and it is ruining me. I am emotionally unstable at the moment and the doctor had offered me a sick line for a week to spend Xmas with my family and some time off work. At present I am working Xmas eve, Xmas day, Boxing Day and the day after. I have two kids under 10 and it has made me so miserable. I have decided I want to hand my notice in but what I’m not sure of is can I hand my notice in when I am off sick or can I hand my notice in and then go off sick? Or do I just put my big girl pants on and get on with it and be miserable until I find something else hopefully? Sorry it’s a bit all over the place hope it makes sense.

Do as your doctor says and take time off, to get better.

Then deal with it. Health first, everything else once that's back in track.

Those are horrid shifts to have to work? Who rota'ed you in for those shifts and why are you covering so much of Xmas? What are the other staff doing?

We work a long week and short week, I requested Christmas Day off as my kids are still young but they declined it. So the way the shifts work the other half are off Christmas but working new year it’s ridiculous they don’t care at all.
