I always do. It's fine, I just eat less after. I think alcohol plays the biggest part and that's easy to cut out after too.

FluffyMcCloud · 19/12/2018 07:19

Yes, loads. On holiday I relax and eat lots, but for me it is about the alcohol. I don’t really drink much in the normal way of going on but on holiday I love a cocktail or three and at Christmas there is always mulled wine and prosecco everywhere!

IamMummyhearmeROAR · 19/12/2018 07:22

In summer the heat abroad kills my appetite. At Christmas I enjoy some treats but try to eat mindfully. My work is a riot of chocs and biscuits right now but I don’t indulge as it makes me sluggish for the rest of the day

Birdsgottafly · 19/12/2018 07:23

Yes I do and those of us who don't eat much more, but put on weight would have been the ones who survived, in times gone by.

From a biological POV its good to pad out over Winter.

CakeNinja · 19/12/2018 07:28

I tend to put on about half a stone or so over the month of December.
Lots of cake at work, extra booze and going out more. Tins of sweets and chocolates everywhere, I don’t go mad but have something I would consider very treat-y every day, normally more than once a day too!
It’s fine, come January I revert back to my usual eating and it comes off again.

Toomanybaubles · 19/12/2018 07:31

No, I always lose weight when I am not at work because I move more rather than sitting on my backside at my desk.

Summer hols I usually lose about 10-14lbs. Christmas about 7lbs.

Parky04 · 19/12/2018 07:34

If I'm on a cruise I will put on half a stone in a week!! I've got better as I've got older regarding Xmas. I will only over indulge on Xmas day and boxing day and will eat normally all other days.

PeachSchnapps · 19/12/2018 07:52

I lose weight on holiday.

At Christmas I gain a bit, maybe 4-5lbs.

It usually comes off in the first week of January as it's usually mostly bloat!

Chewbecca · 19/12/2018 07:57

Yes, probably 1/2 stone.
I'm drinking alcohol every day for the next 10 days or so and eating out about half of them, plus there are more chocolates, cakes and biscuits around than usual.

We tend to cruise which doesn't kill your appetite as dining rooms are quite cool! We do often walk a lot on port days though. Daily alcohol including cocktails.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/12/2018 08:32

Oh yes, usually 3 kg - I must taste my baking after all, I do not work over christmas and reduce housework to a minimum - so there you - well I - go. More calories in than I can use up.

dudsville · 19/12/2018 08:41

This happened to me last year for the first time. I don't diet so it took months to drop off naturally but i never got down to wearing my tighter fitting things. I'm wary this year. Been v careful so far. I have a big trip in 4 months and want to be my normal size for it so that's keeping me focused.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/12/2018 08:47

I have maintained the small weight loss til today

But its a birthday here, and party on Saturday and then Christmas eve day and boxing day are alwys bad even if i am good inbetween

Its alcohol and things like birthday cake and Christmas chocolate

I do have a slow metabolism but even so i will probably gain half a stone over the week or so and then lose half in the second week of January

Holidays depend on what we are doing so easily 2 pounds a week on a relaxy holiday and 1 pound a week when there is lots of walking...we mainly have the first type Grin

comedycentral · 19/12/2018 08:52

I usually lose weight as I'm off work and I have more time to exercise or go on long walks with the dog. I wouldn't say I limit my food or drink, it's more the exercise I think.

BlackInk · 19/12/2018 09:54

I find Christmas (and all 'occasions') quite stressful, so I probably eat less than usual. I really miss indulging and enjoying food, but these days it just makes me feel ill :(

PinkHeart5914 · 19/12/2018 09:58

Yes o do but once normally eating and drinking starts up after the weight is off within a week or so.

MrsCar · 19/12/2018 10:00

I'm going to eat and drink a lot on the 24th, 25th and 26th, and be back to normal on the 27th.

I'll probably have 3 or 4 pounds up, but it'll be gone again in a few days.

I don't like the feeling of overeating for a week or weeks on end, January is hard enough as it is already, without having to lose a half a stone or more.

AnnabelleLecter · 19/12/2018 10:14

No never. I have three meals a day. Whatever the occasion I hate big portions and feeling really full, not interested in snacks, walk daily but will go for longer walks over Christmas.

FestiveNut · 19/12/2018 10:15

Oh yes. It's called Christmas girth and I will apologise to no one for it!

FestiveNut · 19/12/2018 10:17
Xmas Grin
MysweetAudrina · 19/12/2018 10:17

Hopefully :)

I will do sugar free January and I did sugar free September. I will keep up my yoga practice over the hols and get out for some walks but what is Christmas for if not for gluttony. All those sweets, chocolates, cheese and biscuits are not going to eat themselves.

Fuckyousanta · 19/12/2018 10:20

No.

I have a set weight. Weigh myself once a week and if I’m over or close then I reign myself in for a few days. I will up my exercise this week to give me more leeway next week!

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 19/12/2018 10:20

I dont overeat for weeks and weeks

Ive gained 8 punds in a week once

A good half of that dropped off the following week

Its very easy for me to gain unfortunately, i dont eat big portions but the extra alcohol and sweet treats are my downfall

Toomanybaubles · 19/12/2018 10:20

I had my hair cut last week and my lovely 20 odd year old hairdresser told me that no Christmas was a success unless he had gained a stone in weight.

I am too decades older than him, no doubt he can lose it as quickly as he puts it on Xmas Grin!

Ozgirl75 · 19/12/2018 10:41

I put on weight the second I take my eye off the ball, so yes, weight goes on. But I know how to get rid of it as long as I tackle it quickly!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 19/12/2018 10:43

No not really. I always have very active holidays and I eat loads of shit all year so Christmas is no different Grin
