Sorry to post in chat.

Single parent. My DC is massively failing in school. No support. Mum never knew me. Dad was shit and died recently.

It's proper hard trying to keep a FT job and be deal with it all.

I know I have to suck it up and deal with it but right now, I'd love a hand hold.

I'm trying everything but exhaustion is taking a hold.

Hand hold here. I'm feeling like it's all falling apart here at the moment. My children never seem to be happy and this time of year I seem to feel more alone than ever.

I'm sure things will get better for us but sometimes it's just so hard isn't it.

You care that you might be a shit parent- solid proof that you're definitely not! We all feel like this at least some of the time and I've been a single parent- it's the hardest thing there is! You're doing fine x

What do you mean by your child ‘massively failing ‘ at school? Does s/he have special needs? Poor attendance? Poor behaviour? What are the issues? Perhaps we could offer some suggestions of how you could support or make the school do their job?

Full time job and single parent? Failing - er no!

I hope you have some time off over Christmas to have some fun with your child (and maybe help them out with some tricky schoolwork).

Speak to the school about some study support.

You care. That is never failing. Ever.

You are that child's parent and regardless, they love you.

You are NOT failing.

Zevitevitchofcwsmas · 18/12/2018 20:14

How and why is it your child failing.

It's probably more the schools fault than yours. It's their job to educate, etc.

Missythecat · 18/12/2018 20:15

Thank you so much. It's just so hard at this time of the year. Trying to deal with it all. Its just knowing that you have to provide a Christmas. And it won't be like the other kids in school with a big family Christmas. Also I'm tired.

With regards to the school situation, I have another thread. I'll link.
