So there has been housefly buzzing round the house today annoying me to no end in the process. So imagine my delight when putting towels in the bathroom i see that the fly has managed to get trapped in the water in the bottom of the toilet . Without hesitation i lept across the bathroom and flushed the toilet and he didn't flush . Three flushes he has survived now and he still there trying to struggle up the bowl. I'm actually beginning to feel sorry for him now .Do i just leave him to drown , think of a way to kill him, or launch a rescue operation ? Grin

Keep on flushing. It's only a matter of time before toilet flush rip current drags him down the u bend eventually.

redfruitgum · 18/12/2018 16:40

The toilet flush rip current Grin since I posted this he survived flush #4. He seems to be some sort of invincible fly. I've put the toilet lid down on him for the time being.

I would rescue him and put him outside. Ok it’s pouring down but give him a chance. It is Christmas after all! 2

OMG feeling sorry for a fly! Grin Out of all the creatures on this earth,I think houseflies must be the only one that I feel no empathy or sympathy for, after learning how they eat! Envy (not envy)

redfruitgum · 18/12/2018 17:00

It's was part way up climbing up the toilet bowl. It has now survived flush #6

This fly wants to live. It's a fighter...

lynnepot · 18/12/2018 17:07

Jeez how pants must your toilet flush be.

Anyonebut · 18/12/2018 17:08

Put a square or 2 of toilet paper in before you flush.

VelociraptorRex · 18/12/2018 17:09

The fly seems to be earning its survival Grin
(Hope you're not on a water meter OP...!)

GladAllOver · 18/12/2018 17:11

Stop wasting water!
A drop of soap in the pan will make it drown. Then leave it until there is something to flush.

tryingtobehave · 18/12/2018 17:13

Harpic Full Strength.

redfruitgum · 18/12/2018 17:15

Gonna try the loo paper idea.

How would soap drown the fly?

OP posts:
lynnepot · 18/12/2018 17:18

Push him under the water with the toilet brush until he drowns.

redfruitgum · 18/12/2018 17:33

He's flushed Smile

How would soap drown the fly?
It destroys the surface tension of the water so that the fly cannot sit above the surface. Often used to stop mosquito larvae living on water.

lynnepot · 18/12/2018 17:42

So long Mr fly. Valiant effort but as I predicted the toilet flush rip current did you in the end Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/12/2018 17:45

Jesus Christ don’t get it out, if it’s survived four flushes that ain’t no normal fly, that’s a Jeff Goldblum hybrid fly! Shock

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 18/12/2018 17:46

Oh thank god.....
