What game and have you checked against the community page for that game to check if others are having issues? Also won't play as in won't even load or ir crashes?

Have you uninstalled it properly from steam?

Are your graphics card and other drivers up to date?

Does it just fail to load, crash, hang, what happens?

It’s star bound. Laptop is only a month old so no problems with that. You click on it, screen goes black with big white square as if loading and goes back to the steam page?

Yes uninstalled from steam and put back on. Went to steam support and thy can’t help as it’s not one of their games and all I can do is ask for a refund.

On the starbound steam page on the discussion page they have a pinned topic about what to do if the game won't load and steps to follow, have you tried all the steps for that?

Okay. First step - right click the game on the steam menu, select properties, and there’s a button for verifying game file integrity (or similarly worded) - press that and see if any files are corrupt. If so it’ll re download and fix.

If that doesn’t work, can you find the folder that it’s located in - run a search and find the games exe file. Right click and run as administrator, see if that solves your problem if it isn’t a steam game? You could also reboot the pc and make sure you’re running steam as admin.

Sometimes firewalls can interfere with steam too, so check the game is permitted to run.

If none of that works, go into steam settings and check or uncheck the tick box for “beta participation” - this will download a new steam client but won’t delete your games or data.

I’ve had to uninstall and reinstall steam altogether in the past but that can be a nightmare so try the above first.

Iv already done the verifying thing and that hasn’t made a difference. I’ll go on and try the other part now....

(Not very good with technology, in case you hadn’t guessed Grin )

Ok so the beats but doesn’t let me click on it change it, it says :
Select the beta you would like to opt into: then the click box says none-opt our of all beta programs and there is no other option..
