Issues with spam texts on my phone- anyone?

I've a Samsung (older version) and for some time now ( more than a year) when friends message me and we have a message thread (rather than just a one-off text) around 2 days later I'm getting spam texts supposedly from them. They aren't from my friends.

The texts follow on from the text chain, saying the person (friend) has sent me a video message with a link and I must go into it and give a password etc. Clearly I NEVER do and have checked with friends who confirm they have not sent.

I've got anti virus on my phone. so what do I do? Am I being hacked? Are they being hacked? Do I talk to EE who I have my contract with or what?

I have had the same, also Samsung, also EE. First time it happened, appeared to be from my daughter. Seemed odd, so I texted her, asked is this you? Nope she said. So I deleted it. I know nothing about phones, but when they pop up, I just delete them and touch wood there appear to be no lasting problems, if that's any help.

Thanks. I hope nothing is amiss!

I think it's because they are spoofing your relative's numbers. Beware of such calls. It's smart to just verify the information with the owner of the numbers. I have also read some reports about text message spam at www.whycall.me/224-386-3094.html. People should always be on extra guard.
