USPS parcel from US. Tracking e mail says it is being held as I need to pay charges. Anyone help me with this?

I ordered something from a US website. It is now on the UK but being held as I need to pay charges. This is fine. But i don't know how or where I do this. Will someone be in touch or what? Anyone know the answer? Thanks.

You'll get a card through the post with details of the charge and how to pay :)

Ive done this a million times. The fee is vat 20% of the whole declared value including postage plus £8 or £11(i forget) post office handling fee. As the above poster said you'll get a card in the post. Sometimes this can take weeks. Payment is very easy & straightforward online.

I ordered the item for my DDs 21st which has already passed! It only cost $19 and i paid $12 for shipping. Won't be ordering from the US again in a hurry!

The whole getting it here will have cost more than the item and it wasn't even that exciting in the first place. Ah well - live and learn!

I got the card today and paid the money on line. Another £12.70!

I should get my goods on Friday in time for DD to be home from uni so she can get it then!

Customs charges from the US are ridiculous. I never order anything from there. Sometimes my mum sends me things (she lives in the US) and ticks the wrong box on the customs form. I’ve ended up having to pay £60 before to bail our Christmas gifts out of customs jail!

Me too mind : she now puts every single family member's name , plus the cats, on the adress label!
