Lost life insurance documents

DH and I are due a review of our life insurance/ critical illness cover and despite searching the entire house I can't find our policy documents anywhere Confused

If I phone the company direct can they send me out copies? No idea of policy number or reference or anything.

Did you pay by dd? Ref no on bank statement?

Good thinking!!! Have 2 separate policies and dd's are set up for both, will a reference number be enough?

Name, address & dob will identify your policy when you ring up. Is the policy for your mortgage though - if so, and it's assigned to your lender, they will have the docs as security.

Unlikely for life insurance to be assigned to a mortgage lender these days - this was common for old endowment policies but not so much for modern protection policies.

OP the DD reference may be a policy number, if they can't use it to find the policy then your name/DOB should be enough.

They should be able to issue you a copy of your policy document, in the unfortunate event that you do need to claim then you'd probably need to fill on a lost policy declaration confirming that it's not been sold/assigned to anyone else

Thank you all, the frustrating thing is that I keep absolutely everything.... They are definitely here - just somewhere obviously very safe and secure Blush
