I live in a HA house, and i cant believe how good they are
Every year they have a raffle with every house on our estate entered by street and no, the winner gets a £100 food hamper, and 15 more seconds of £50 hamper,
Also the people who are classed as disabled get a present, delivered to them , or they may be nominated by someone
My son has just received a lovely hamper
Also free Christmas dinners to anyone who wants one if they book in advance, any age,
Business advice and loans for anyone wanting to start up a small business,
Can anyone beat this, with their Housing association,
I could understand if it was a very poor area, but it isnt particularly ,
Our HA are also very good at getting homeless people rehoused
I feel very lucky to have such a good one

Don't be so bloody daft HelenaShock

And I've got a fab HA tooSmile

HelenaDove · 17/12/2018 17:11

Good There are some decent ones out there including one that prioritizes domestic abuse survivors

AviatorShades · 17/12/2018 17:17

I think it may be ones that prioritize domestic abuse survivors,HD. Mine does tooSmile

HelenaDove · 17/12/2018 17:18

I think more of them should do so.

YerAuntFanny · 17/12/2018 17:21

That's nice :)

AviatorShades · 17/12/2018 17:35

Perhaps they do HD

I worked for a while for The Audit Commission (now CQC) and visited a refuge for mothers and families fleeing domestic abuse.

To keep them absolutely safe they would routinely be relocated at a refuge in another city, which meant cutting all ties to their previous lives,no exceptions, from which they would be helped to make a new life....

When we were taken to their Refuge to see round it and speak to the mothers and children,we had no idea where it was, well, except that this one was somewhere in Birmingham.

Eye opener, that was, with a common room filled with the drawings and writings of the children. It was a joyous place, full of hope.

princesstiasmum I'm sorry, was so busy addressing HD I completely forgot to say -that's SO good of your HAStar and I hope you have a great ChristmasXmas Smile

HelenaDove · 17/12/2018 17:41

Oh i believe you There is a very good HA called Habinteg who prioritize disabled tenants. They are out there but they dont have the massive PR machines behind them that the bigger ones do.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 17/12/2018 17:43

Mine is great too.

They are also fabulous whenever repairs need doing. One night the lock broke on the back door....a Saturday night. Within two hours a locksmith was out and replacing it. It was classed as an emergency as the house wasn’t secure.

They don’t do the Xmas thing but do have a big festival every year locally for tenants and supply a packed lunch. You just let them know about any food allergies. The festival has a variety of organisations present who offer support etc.

Last,y they offer funding for community projects and the charity I am trustee for has just applied for some of this to run a series of workshops for parent tenants about ADHD.

Love them as Landlords.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 17/12/2018 17:45

Mine is Swan Housing...based in Essex and London. They also do a lot of community regeneration,

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 17/12/2018 17:46

Ours is ok. Not great not good either. You don't get much out of them but you soon know about it when they want something from you.

princesstiasmum · 17/12/2018 18:14

Thanks Aviator hope you have a good Christmas too, i cant help but praise them, so many complain about their HA and maybe with good cause, but credit where credit is due i believe,And i have never had need to complain
My 2 sons needed a flat for their health problems and with warden care, they were both given one within months of applying and the HA were very helpful, even taking into consideration that they hadnt got their UC and warden payments yet,

OP posts:
HelenaDove · 17/12/2018 18:18

thats great especially as some HAs are very tetchy about UC.

princesstiasmum · 17/12/2018 19:20

Thanks for the link, thats intersting, but i have not heard anything about that, although they do come round and check and ask if you need anything doing repairs etc,
I cant get any further into that link as it seems to be more for business reasons
