Anyone got any recommendations for a tablet for a 6-7 year old please? Thanks

Unhelpfully, any that are in your budget would be my advice - but don't forget a drop-proofing cover.

DS (7) has had a Samsung Galaxy Tab, and a Amazon Fire Kids. The Fire is the more recent, and is easy to be kids safe for browsing, etc, but is limited in what can be downloaded and is currently plagued by a "Oops something went wrong" error message that forces continued restarts - you'll see a lot of moaning if you google that.

Ok thanks Adam

My tech-savvy DP chose the latest Lenovo tablets for our DC for Christmas. They're cheaper than most and we had one previously that's still going strong after several years.

We thought about the Amazon Fire, but seems like the range of apps you can get for them is more limited.

ours had the hudls for years but now they have started to break down we have been replacing them with lenavo tablets. DH is pretty techy and these were the best in our price range (no way are we buying the kids ipads!!)

I like the amazon fire range. If you're reasonably technical you are not limited on app range as you can install the Google play store

Thanks everyone I greatly appreciate it. So I’m torn between the amazon fire 10’ and the Lenovo. Argh!

Ours are Lenovo TB-X103F if that's any help?

If you intend to let them use YouTube I would recommend something that you can get kids YouTube on.

We got Kindle Fires for our boys, however they don’t have that on their App Store. I’m not comfortable with them watching YouTube proper on their own (age 9, nearly 10) as there is some very questionable content. Also it’s not a total failsafe of course!

However I don’t know if it’s availabe for the Lenovo either.

We're setting ours up with Google family, which allows you to place content and time restrictions - for example if you want you child to be able to listen to an audio book in bed, but not play games or browse the web you can do that.

Thanks so much all
