Hi Everyone,

I hope you can all help me, Birmingham Airport are currently redesigning the baby changing toilets throughout the whole terminal and part of the changes is to have Breast feeding chairs located within various toilets.

I have come on Mumsnet to ask for all your advice on what chair you personally think is the best.

Any ideas are welcome.

In Dundrum shopping centre in Dublin, they have a huge room with water coolers, toys for toddlers and really comfy chairs. And beside it there are toilets with a changing area.

First you want a space where YOU would happily eat. Not somewhere with poo smells or 100's of people coming and going with the occasional nosy child.

Comments about space being suitable for siblings to play on the floor are very true may mums have newborns and 2/3 year olds.

Chairs like the ikea poang chairs are good but probably not ideal for commercial use.

Go have a look at your local john lewis' for ideas, their breastfeeding areas are separate from the toilets.

I would honestly rather breastfeed in the hard plasticky chairs in the main bit than in the toilets.

Not in the toilets!

You need a feeding area that is separate to the toilets, and any old armchair really. Also with bottle warming and microwave facilities. And screens so people know when the flights are. Maybe with toddler toys and play area also.

Ikea have good areas in their restaurants - not in the toilets.

Signs saying women are welcome to breastfeed anywhere / breastfeeding friendly, and breastfeeding chairs in the general waiting area would also be good so women don't feel like they have to go in the breastfeeding area.

the last thing you want to do is be stuck in a breastfeeding area in the toilet section before a flight!
The breastfeeding chair would be an option. You don't have to sit in it.

Obviously! But wouldn’t it be nicer if the option was not in/next to the toilet.
