Scared of this fraud email, any truth in it do you think?

I have translated this from Czech (I do not speak the language but the email came from the email account from the lady who was PA before me).

I wouldn't usually think anything of it, however, I have watched some porn on my work phone Blush Of which I was told to use as a personal phone if I wanted to.

Could there be any truth in this threat? What video does he mean? What does satisfied reaction mean, satisfied with what?

I'm really panicking.

Hi!

As you may have noticed, I have sent you an email from your account.
This means I have full access to your account.

I've been looking at you for months.
The fact is that you were infected with malicious software through the adult site you visited.

If you are not familiar with it, I'll explain.
Trojan Virus gives me full access and control over a computer or other device.
That means I can see everything on your screen and turn on the camera and microphone, but you do not know about it.

I also have access to all your contacts.

Why did not your antivirus detect malicious software?
Answer: I have a Trojan driver, I update his signatures every 4 hours so your antivirus is silent.

I made a video showing how you are satisfied in the left half of the screen and on the right half you see the video you watched.
With one click, I can send this video to all your emails and social networking contacts.

To prevent this, transfer € 255 to your bitcoin address (if you do not know how to do it, then write to Google: "Buy Bitcoin").

Bitcoin address: 18QJdD5yWJyjeAapaSZEPoCQE84ncxwLAq

Once the payment is received, I will delete the video and you will never hear me.
I'll give you 48 hours to pay.
I have a warning when reading this letter and the timer will work when you see this letter.

Filing complaints somewhere makes no sense because this email can not be tracked as my and Bitcoin addresses.
I'm not making any mistakes.

If I find you have a message or shared this message with someone else, the video will be immediately distributed.

Regards

I've had a few of them it's a scam.

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 17/12/2018 09:48

It's super-fake, don't worry. These are doing the rounds :)

WereYouHareWhenIWasFox · 17/12/2018 09:48

Google "sextortion"

It's a scam, but they hope some people (such as yourself) take it seriously and pay up.

SylvanianFamiliesNurserySet · 17/12/2018 09:50

Oh by the way, it's really easy to send an email in a way that makes it look like it came from a certain email address, even though it didn't. So the 'sender' on an email doesn't mean anything.

ratspeaker · 17/12/2018 09:50

If you google phrases you will see its a common threat, its a scam

keepingmypeaches · 17/12/2018 09:54

Fabulous, thank you. I was quite worried for a minute BlushGrin

I’ve had one of these too, just ignore!

thesnapandfartisinfallible · 17/12/2018 10:06

Bullshit. I've had that one and I don't even have a work phone and was unemployed at the time.

tenbob · 17/12/2018 10:57

He is trying to say he has got a video of you wanking to a porn video, made by hijacking your webcam when you watch porn, and that the video will be sent to your contacts unless you pay up.

It's a scam, predicated on there being enough people who wank to porn in front of their laptops to believe it might be true and are worried enough to not take the risk

It's being doing the rounds this year and I've had a few despite neither watching porn nor having a webcam on my laptop

Ahh, a total scam then. I did view a video once on this work phone but was immediately put off by a small dog walking in the room on the scene. It'd make terribly boring viewing

Can I just say that whilst work told you to use as a personal phone if you liked, they probably meant for calls and 'normal' browsing? Most employers have policies about not accessing porn via work equipment/internet. I really wouldn't do that again...

But yeah - this email = total scam

Lellochip · 17/12/2018 11:10

I've had a few of these. The last was word for word the same as yours. The first one was actually quite complimentary so hope all the family, friends and colleagues he "sends" the screenshot of my joys to appreciate it 😂

Trampire · 17/12/2018 11:10

I've had loads of these emails. Total scams. I delete them without opening now.

I work from home and watch porn sometimes. Most people do. That's why they're hoping to catch someone out who'll pay up.

Stacie84 · 17/12/2018 11:24

Total scam I had the email too and I can assure you I haven't watched any porn 😂 (not that there's anything wrong with watching it) just press delete and carry on as you were 😁

Lellochip · 17/12/2018 11:44

I have to say, much prefer these porn blackmail emails to the latest one which says he's been contracted to acid attack me but will cancel if I pay him not to...

CurcubitaPepo · 17/12/2018 12:09

Just to say I get these loads too.
Total bollox.
