Go Fund Me - fundraiser knocking on doors

Is doing door to door fundraising usual for Go Fund Me?
Young lad knocked at my neighbours door asking her to donate. Apparently he's been to all of the houses in our street, I didn't hear the doorbell if he tried ours.
I've seen lots of GFM fundraising but it's always been online and I'm a bit concerned.

Ring the local police non emergency number. If you are a member of local Facebook group post a warning.

Ok I'll do that.
I wanted to check here first in case it's a normal way of fundraising. I've read the GoFundMe site and can't see if doorstepping is against their rules but well it's nearly Christmas and unfortunately this time of year does tend to bring scammers out.
