Can I get a CRB/DBS check with an out of date passport?

I need to get one done, but my passport expired 2 years ago and I don't have a driver's license. The cost for a new passport isn't one I can afford right now!

Sorry, it needs to be in date.

Birth and or marriage certificate?

OddBoots · 16/12/2018 13:20

Do you have a birth certificate issued within 12 months of your birth? If so this can be used instead.

For my chaperones DBS I needed passport, driving licence, birth certificate and utility bill. They did accept an out of date passport as everything else was in date/ original/less than 3 months old.

Lots of documents you can produce for a DBS check. Full list here:

I was given an option to "appeal" a rejection based on an out of date passport, but only if the passport had expired within six months. I think two years is probably far too long.

Oddly, my passport actually was in date, so I pointed that out and they reversed the rejection!

Thank you everyone, that's really helped. I do have a birth certificate, thank god! I also have most of the things listed on the GOV website.

@AnchorDownDeepBreath that was a little bit weird.
