If you really can't get it out yourself you're going to have to go to A&E, unfortunately.

Jenda · 15/12/2018 23:01

Don't panic! Can you stroke it down so it slips out of the bottom of your eye? Or hold your eyelid away from your eye to see if it will fall out?

Lineofbeauty · 15/12/2018 23:03

What kind of contact?
Soft?
Squirt some solution into your eye. It's probably dried out.

Fill the sink, put your face under the water and open your eye to try to flush it out? That is non-medical advice but that's what I'd try. Were your lenses very dried out and that's what caused it?

Dickorydockwhatthe · 15/12/2018 23:04

I’m trying but slightly squeamish. I’ve just started a new trial with these too after not being able to wear them for a while. I can move it to the side and slightly up but can’t pinch the sides together to pull it out.
If I make myself cry do you think it will come out?? Honestly this is my worst nightmare :-(

Don’t panic, I’ve had this myself a few times and it can’t get lost in your eye (according to google!) I always pinch mine, but my mum only swipes the contact right into the corner of her eye with her forefinger, and it sort of crumples itself out.

MyGuideJools · 15/12/2018 23:05

I think the more wet you make it the harder they are to get hold of. Mine always fall out when they get dry.
make sure your hands are clean and really dry and try again. Are you a newcomer to lenses? sometimes mine stick to my eye if I've had a quick power nap wearing them.
Have you got an eye bath you could use?
Don't panic, they will come out!

gaggiagirl · 15/12/2018 23:05

Slide it towards the inner corner of your eye, it should then wrinkle up and break the seal a bit then just keep pushing til it's out.

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 15/12/2018 23:05

Why would a&e be necessary? Seems an over reaction. It's not ideal but I've slept with lenses in numerous times.

Doje · 15/12/2018 23:05

Take a step back and calm it down for a minute. If you've been poking at our for a while, blow your nose and dry your eyes. Mine are always more difficult to get out when everything is 'lubricated' with tears.

Just keep trying different ways. It'll come out. My go to option is to use two fingers, being them together and kind of squish it into the middle so it rucks up.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 15/12/2018 23:05

I don’t even know what lense it is they didn’t say justvsaif it was a lot thinner for my astigmatism but might dry out quicker but they felt fine all night 😞

Stay calm. If you panic it seems ten times harder. Do you have any eye drops just to moisten your eyes again? Have a ten minute break.
Don't be afraid to pinch/squeeze a bit more firmly.
One of my eyes I squeeze but the other I swipe downwards and it just flips over my bottom lid and out. Have you tried this technique? I hope you can get it out, I know the feeling.

MyGirlDaisy · 15/12/2018 23:06

I would try an eye bath and blink a lot!

sharpstick · 15/12/2018 23:06

I have had this happen and it can be a bit of a panic! Take a moment, relax and start again. Open your eye wide with your other hand. Make sure the fingers you are pinching with are very very dry. Put them onto the lense gently but firmly and keep them there for a second. They should ‘stick’ a little to the lense. With a firm quick movement pinch the lense it should unstick from your eye. But stay calm, good luck

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 15/12/2018 23:06

Massage your eyelid with your eyes closed and that may push it down to a place where it will come out. You might have to do it ( gently) for a while. It’s happened to me more than once. On one occasion, I went to the optician and she massaged it to get it out.

DiscoDown · 15/12/2018 23:09

Hi, I'm an optometrist. Try to look up and swipe it down onto the white of the eye. It should be easier to pinch it off from there and it won't feel as uncomfortable as there are a lot less nerves there.

Claricestarling1 · 15/12/2018 23:10

I’ve had this..try to stay calm, they will come out!! My technique is to slide it down as far as it will go on your eye then pinch the sides gently and pull.

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 23:11

From experience - make sure it hasn't come out without you realising. I once spent about an hour trying to remove a lens in increasing panic late at night; eventually gave up and went to bed. In the morning, about to have another attempt, I spotted the shrivelled up lens stuck the side of the sink.

babysharkah · 15/12/2018 23:13

Go to sleep. It'll work it's way out!

nutellalove · 15/12/2018 23:13

Lots and lots of solution in the eye then swipe it to the corner of the eye and hopefully it will fall out

burnoutbabe · 15/12/2018 23:14

I have had to leave mine in overnight when I have managed to say get them folded over and stick under eye lid. Not ideal but I go to bed and ensure I go to opticians first thing to get removed. Must happen at least once a year.

Shirleyphallus · 15/12/2018 23:17

ScreamingValenta I have done the same. Was very very drunk and didn’t realise it had already come out.

This also from the woman who accidentally put two tampons in once so....

Rockbird · 15/12/2018 23:17

Squirt some lens solution in your eye. They're a bigger to get out when they're dry. But calm down otherwise you'll be scratching at your eyeball.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 15/12/2018 23:18

I use two fingers sideways, one each on upper and lower lid, pinch lids together firmly and the lens pops out into the fingers. I've never pinched mine out directly, I don't think I could do it and I've been wearing them for 35 years.

ScreamingValenta · 15/12/2018 23:19

Shirleyphallus Yes, alcohol played a part in my experience too!
