Outside Christmas lights, on all night?

I was driving home early this morning , approximately 1am, and there were a lot of houses with their outside Christmas lights on. I have always assumed that people turn them off at night.

Do you keep yours on all night? Is it safe?

We turn ours off when we go to bed.

I have thought the same thing with Christmas tree lights. I always turn mine off before bed but see others keep them on.

We turn ours off about 9.30. As a minor concern, it could be annoying to your neighbours. Anything using power is a potential fire risk, so is sensible to have them going off, having had a fire I won’t take any chances.

Our outside lights are on a timer. They go off after 16 hours. Just little fairy lights on the bushes.

Starlight456 · 15/12/2018 18:21

I turn ours off when I go to bed.

I switch all mine off when going to bed. They only go back on in the evening

TeenTimesTwo · 15/12/2018 18:48

Our are on a timer. They go off 11pm ish. they come one for around 30-60mins in the morning too, just to be cheerful.

Ours are on a timer. Midnight I think DH has set them too.

He installed them as a surprise for me so I've had nothing to do with them at all.

wonkylegs · 15/12/2018 18:52

Ours are on a timer from 4 til 10pm

Stompythedinosaur · 15/12/2018 18:57

Ours are on a timer too. Leaving them on all night is irritating and wastes electricity imo.

TinselandToblerones · 15/12/2018 18:58

Ours are on a timer, they go on at 4 and off at 10

Fatted · 15/12/2018 18:59

At 1am people might still be up and awake though?

Ours go off when we go to bed, so anything between 9pm and midnight!!

EnidButton · 15/12/2018 19:05

Ours are have a battery pack that has a timer on it. They were maybe still up? I usually am at that time. It was a lot of office workers last day at work before Christmas too.

EnidButton · 15/12/2018 19:06

I wouldn't leave them on all night if they weren't timed.
