Help! Any magimix food processor owners?!

I've lost my manual and I've never used it before. Trying to make coleslaw and failing.

I've learnt from the online manual how to assemble and I've attached and clicked everything into place apart from the feeder tube. It won't slide in without forcing and I'm worried I'll break it. It's not working at all

I'll attach pics but can anyone help?!

You tube is NOT helping me!

Hi, did you get it sorted? I have a Magimix but haven't encountered that particular problem. Maybe it's the mechnism that runs down through the handle? Have you tried removing the lid and then slotting the feeder tube in?

MaisyMary77 · 15/12/2018 13:44

Try taking the lid out of the fixed position-mine is a bit temperamental. Sometimes the main feeder tube goes in no problem, other times I have to unclick the lid. Good luck!

Manuals here OP.

Hover over 'Food processors' and it brings up a few different models.

I'm sure the link would help!

Thanks! Kept for a later date. Had to hand slice coleslaw for lots of people FFS. I stink of onions Blush

It's so frustrating! I may be back to this thread next week to try making mire coleslaw, breadcrumbs etc. Please keep it in your watched folder Grin

Have you got the feeder tube the right way up? Worth a try.

Sorry mine is an older model with a smaller feed tube so can answer any other questions than this one.

PaintBySticker · 24/12/2018 17:27

Is it upside down? Looks like it might be from the pic.

Momzilla82 · 24/12/2018 17:29

If the main bowl unit isn't clicked in properly then it won't work.... ours slides across from left to right and then you feel a click it should be dead in the middle.

Momzilla82 · 24/12/2018 17:30

I also think you've got the spindle part upside down perhaps.

bestbefore · 24/12/2018 17:33

You have to have the feeder tube in for it to close..the insert has to be inside

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/12/2018 17:35

Copied and pasted but I've underlined the bit I think might help you

Put on the lid with the feed tube to the left of the handle. The locking mechanism should engage with the lip on the bowl.

Applying gentle downward pressure_,

turn the lid counter-clockwise (as far as it will go) until locked in position. The bowl is now also locked in place. NOTE: With a little practice you will soon become familiar with the lid locking mechanism which is designed specifically for your safety. For the first few operations some components may be tight fitting.

minisoksmakehardwork · 24/12/2018 17:35

@CisMyArse

CisMyArse · 28/12/2018 11:52

Right. Having another go.

Feeder tube can only be one way as it's shape won't even insert if upside down.

  1. Main bowl on and rotated left to lock into place. ✅
  1. Blade/spindle attachment +cutting plate locked into place. Right way up double checked ✅
  1. Lid aligned and locked anti-clockwise into place, aligned with handle of bowl. ✅
  1. Attempts to put feeder tube (with and without the black pushing tool thing) are blocked by the safety catch on the top of the lid. The feeder tube thing will only slot in if the lid is unlocked. When I do this, you can see the feeder tube pushing down a small mechanism on the lid and this downward action of the mechanism makes it impossible to lock the lid into place.

I am at a complete loss.
I've checked whether it's inverted/wrong way around but it isn't. They're shaped to only fit, one way.

Gutted! HELP!

Can you take a picture of how you have it? In your image it does look upside down

wombatron · 28/12/2018 12:45

I've just assembled mine, see if anything looks different:

Also attached image of booklet instructions.

Jacquel · 28/12/2018 13:05

Just a thought, have you tried fitting the feeding tube etc into the lid prior to fitting the lid onto the bowl? The bowl on mine doesn't rotate to the left, to lock into place, it rotates anti clockwise, i.e. to the right. So you put it onto the machine with the handle around the 'twenty to' clock position and then gently rotate it in an anti clockwise directions to the 'half past' clock position. Do try to be fairly gentle though. I'm sorry if that's as clear as mud.x

CisMyArse · 31/12/2018 12:15

Wombatron I cannot thank you enough for the clip - what kindness. Thank you.

I've followed everything and the bowl won't lock into place with the feeder tube in. It only locks into place when the feeder tube is out and then I cannot get it back in.

I've tried everything with reasonable firmness - I don't want to use excessive force.

I am gutted! Receipt is long gone, I cannot remember who we bought it from and it's just an expensive ornament.

Thanks to everyone that's helped and a particularly huge thanks to Wombatron for taking the time to post a vid.

Off to sharpen my knives in preparation for more coleslaw shredding Sad

CisMyArse · 31/12/2018 12:18

Jacquel thank you - yes I've tried and still nothing. The locking mechanism drops out of alignment when the feeder tube is in so the lid won't lock on (mine is also anti-clockwise- my typo earlier in the thread), yet when I lock the lid and THEN try to insert the tube, there's an upper mechanism that doesn't allow it to slide in - I get big resistance.

Gutted!

Thanks so much for posting though x

@CisMyArse did you register it for its warranty when you purchased it? I would be contacting Magimix regardless - they should be able to offer suggestions and replacement parts. May cost you money but it's better than it going to waste.

CisMyArse · 01/01/2019 10:18

I'm contacting them today Wombatron- has to be worth a go.

Thank you.

I've had a couple of replacement bowls and one lid over the years. They last like rolls Royce engines, regardless of use!

That should sort it. Also check EBay for replacement parts.

DoingMyBest2010 · 01/01/2019 15:40

mine is an older model, but first the main bowl needs to click into place and then the feeder tube goes in. But the bit with the feeder tube also needs to click onto the main bowl

Yearofthemum · 02/01/2019 05:11

Me too. It's important the handle is on the left (Quarter past position)..Lid too.
