Also hoping all humans and animals are safe, it's awful.

Thesearmsofmine · 15/12/2018 13:00

Oh goodness I hope nobody (human or animal) is hurt.

CurcubitaPepo · 15/12/2018 13:05

Awful.

I’ve just heard in a news report that fire has broken out in “multiple locations”.

Hmmmmm

Soubriquet · 15/12/2018 13:11

If the source is correct about multiple locations, does that indicate arson?

I hope not! Chester has so many rare and endangered species in that zoo.

Even if you don’t like zoo’s you can’t deny they don’t contribute to the breeding cycle

@Soubriquet

Well that’s what I read into it.
Highly unusual otherwise.

Not good

BarbedBloom · 15/12/2018 13:30

Monsoon forest according to their Facebook. All the free flying birds, orangutans, crocodiles etc. Really sad reading it. We loved seeing the animals there. So hope they get the animals and staff out safely

Zofloramummy · 15/12/2018 13:31

Omg that’s awful! I took my dd last week to see the Xmas lights there. I hope everyone is ok and the animals are safe. If it was arson who would do something like that!

flyingdragonzog · 15/12/2018 13:32

Hope they get everything out safely

They might have had Xmas decorations which faulted explain in the multiple locations? Hope it's not as sinister as arson and all are okay

Zofloramummy · 15/12/2018 13:40

I don’t think they had Xmas lights inside the buildings. All of the main Xmas lights are outside and in the original part of the zoo not in the islands.

ManicUnicorn · 15/12/2018 13:48

Why do people post unhelpful speculations when stuff like this happens? The insinuation that it's arson is absurd in broad daylight when the zoo would have been packed. Likewise Ive just seen someone else suggest on social media suggest shoddy electrics.

Whisky2014 · 15/12/2018 13:58

manic there is an eyewitness who said they were evacuated due to an electrical fire.
Hope all animals are safe but looking at the pictures of be surprised if there were no deaths of animals :( :(

CurcubitaPepo · 15/12/2018 14:08

Wow

Pleased there’s an accidental cause but quite shocking it was able to spread so quickly.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 15/12/2018 14:48

Apparently all animals were led to safety, I now have an image in my mind of crocodiles trotting along behind rescuers.

BifsWif · 15/12/2018 14:52

I’ve been so sad reading the news updates on this.

They’ve managed to get at least 40 animals out according to reports

Soubriquet · 15/12/2018 15:21

Apparently all animals were led to safety, I now have an image in my mind of crocodiles trotting along behind rescuers.

Could you imagine that happening in real life?! GrinGrin

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 15/12/2018 16:38

Sadly they may not be safe after all. Just seen the update:

'Critically endangered Sumatran orangutans and other mammals are all accounted for. We are working hard to account for all other species.'

So really there could be many losses.

Whisky2014 · 15/12/2018 16:53

Honestly if there was so much smoke and flames I can't see how there won't be deaths even from smoke inhalation. Fingers crossed that's not the case though.
