Alexa 'add ons' advice please

I've just bought the Alexa second generation for Christmas and wondered if I need any additional devices to go with it?

I've two dd's who'll no doubt be wanting to play music/games etc on Alexa at the same time, and just wondering if I should also be buying the echo dots for each of them for their rooms?

I've no clue!

You only need one, but dots in the room can be fun - each can work as an individual player and they can be intercoms too.
I like using my dot as an alarm or a wind down audio device at bedtime.

Thank you CormoranStrike, I've just looked online and can't get hold of the second generation dots now (small ones), but could order the 3rd generation ones for £49.99.
Daft question, but would they still be compatible with the larger second generation I have, in order for them to sinc up?

Yes absolutely they will be compatible

The (black) second generation dots are still available at John Lewis for £40.

Thanks all, I didn't realise I could get them still from John Lewis until I bought the 3rd generation ones online! ... Never mind, I'm just glad I managed to get something!
