Where are people buying there Christmas crackers?
I would like a small box of them either 2 , 4 or 6 in a box , there are only 2 of us so we would have them on Christmas eve & day and boxing day . ( but only really want them for Xmas day )
I want some that have a nice or useful gift in them I am fed up of plastic cars and other chuck away stuff.

I think you can get ones you fill yourself, so that might be an idea? The more expensive crackers tend to have gifts which are better quality but still ultimately useless to the recipient.

Muttleylaugh
It Did not even cross my mind to make my own, I will look into that, thanks.
Your right though unless you pay a fortune for them it's still tat in them.

I got some Robin Reed crackers this year. A hat, a joke, a quiz and a Lilly O'Brian chocolate in each.

You can buy individual crackers in Hotel Chocolat. Think they have three (might be two) HC chocolates in each.

I bought the John Lewis ones that you fill yourself and am putting ear-rings for Dm and dmil , and miniature aftershaves for the men. Will also put a lottery ticket in each

Or these ( which were too expensive for 8 people )

Aldi have some lovely gin crackers in this year that are great, and less tat than the usually nose-clip-moustache ones we buy.

Lazybonita · 15/12/2018 13:17

I got some lovely ones from Graham and green which have magic tricks in (but we have kids). I have been tempted by the John Lewis make your own ones though.

My DH makes ours now and we fill with lots of little gifts and sweets.

StillRunningWithScissors · 15/12/2018 15:50

Hobby craft have the fill your own sets. Not too expensive (£4.00?)
Includes hat/jokes etc. just need the gift.

Six pack, you can then save the extra four for next year and year after.

Angie169 · 15/12/2018 18:12

I like the idea of filling my own crackers but I am not very good with craft kind of things , that said if I get a box of 6 I can practice on one or two . And still have 4 to pull.
I think I will go for the John Lewis one's and put a miniature spirit in them .
Aldi ones look good and are good value but unfortunately neither one of us like gin. ( MNHQ please don't ban me from Mumsnet for saying that Shock )
Thank you everyone for your ideas

Well I did it I got some of my own crackers and filled them myself it was easier than I thought it would be I got them from a local craft shop very well known in the area cost me £8 but there are 12 crackers in this pack so I think it's good value. I filled some with sprit Miniatures and some with sweets which only just fit in so if you're thinking about doing it get small Miniatures IYSWIM.

I'm feeling rather proud of myself Smile Smile

Well done! They look great.

Angie169 · 18/12/2018 19:37

I think I can safely say I will never buy pre filled crackers again, however next year I may keep a eye open for my own jokes as the ones that came with them are truly terrible !
