...I was walking my then 11yo DD down to theatre to have major abdominal surgery to remove a tumour. We didn’t know at the time what the tumour was, if (because of its position and potential type) it was going to adversely affect her blood pressure, and if she was going to be woken up afterwards or kept in ICU.

I posted here asking for a handhold and over 500 Mumsnetters took a moment out of their day to think of someone’s little girl and post their good wishes.

I never expected those anonymous posts to get me through the day in the way they did. It was easy to imagine an army of kind people behind us.

Thank you to anyone who posted that day, and to those who continue to post when someone, somewhere needs to have an army of kindness behind them.

DD is doing so well, and I don’t think she’s even thought about what today is. I won’t ever forget, and I won’t ever stop being grateful to all the people who have been there for us.
