Cakes baked at nursery - a one way ticket to norovirus?

DC's nursery is great. This is my first nursery related quandary...

Since starting nursery we've had back to back lurgies of different varieties for 8 weeks including norovirus. It's been grim but we seem to be over the worst and this is the first week since we started nursery that DC has been well.

DC did their first ever baking at nursery today and had a lovely time doing it. We've brought the result home but I feel uneasy about DC eating it as nurseries seem to be a hive of bugs.

Am I being thoroughly ridiculous? Should I let DC eat it?

I thought norovirus was air born?

Don't eat the cake. Nursery bakes are rank anyway. Probably has snot in it Grin

The bugs will have been cooked out of it

And then smothered on again with handling

Get some probiotics to improve immunity but it's a right of passage really - building up your immunity in nursery

They do far worse when we aren't there looking than eating a cake

Sure are. But I always let them eat them anyway because I figured the damage had already been done by the time they got home because they would have already sampled them at nursery. Me? I never dared try them.

The germs children caught from the nurseries probably from sharing toys and close up anyway, my daughter was ill all the time when she was there without eating their nursey baked food.

Your child will pick up those germs just from being around other kids at nursery, so it doesn't really matter. I wouldn't eat it though

I happened to be early at nursery a few days ago and caught DS making biscuits. The teacher did most of it.
The DC had a go one at a time crumbing the mix and then cutting out a shape then she whisked them off to go in the oven and all the DC washed their hands.

I let DS eat his biscuit!
