LizzieSiddal · 14/12/2018 17:37

Yes and we often serve along side DH's culinary masterpiece which is ..... Primula cheese squeezed onto a chunk of celery.Grin

I was mortified when he first suggested this, (we were having neighbours round) but he ignored me, and they all bloody loved it. and so did I.

Yes!

YouSmellOfBeefAndCheese · 14/12/2018 17:48

I don’t think people are serious enough about their marriage unless they have a huge plate of them at the buffet.

MrsPatmore · 14/12/2018 17:52

Love it. Also love tinned pineapple rings on a digestive biscuit - they fizz a bit!

WarCat · 14/12/2018 17:59

Love a retro buffet

Stephisaur · 14/12/2018 18:19

It was one of my early pregnancy cravings, I’d forgotten that 😂

Love the stuff. Mmm might need to get some cheese and pineapple 😂

blondeemily · 14/12/2018 18:20

Love it!

megletthesecond · 14/12/2018 18:20

Ooo yes!
I used to make my own plates of them and sit on the sofa scoffing them all.

StorminaBcup · 14/12/2018 18:24

Ah the holy grail of the buffet, can't beat a pineapple hedgehog! I've inherited a 1970's cookbook full of stuff like this. Some of it is a bit Envy (vom) but there's some great retro dishes too!

IHaveBrilloHair · 14/12/2018 18:25

Absolutely yes.

MiddlingMum · 14/12/2018 18:25

Primula cheese squeezed onto a chunk of celery. My DM used to do that. Utterly delicious.

I used to love cheese and pineapple on sticks, it was the staple food of buffets in the 60s and 70s.

Daisychainsandglitter · 14/12/2018 18:31

Delicious!!!

MotherWilliam · 14/12/2018 18:32

We always do cheese and pineapple on sticks for family buffets. Always fill celery centres with cream cheese - or preferably blue cheese - and cut into tempting bitesize yummy chunks. My family knows wots wot.

Bunnyhop1502 · 14/12/2018 18:34

I was thinking earlier about what I’m going to take to the annual family feast on Boxing Day. Cheese and pineapple hedgehog it is!

BoswellsBollocks · 14/12/2018 18:48

@mychildrenarebarmy

Recipe is definitely a false description Wink

My Nan used to joke it was a secret handed out to the women of the family on marriage Grin

It’s basically Philadelphia cheese with a good glug of tomato ketchup, a good glug of salad cream, and chopped up celery all mixed together.

It’s bloody delicious and perfect for dunking Pringles in!

Everyone in my family goes crazy for it.

mychildrenarebarmy · 14/12/2018 18:53

@BoswellsBollocks That sounds, um, interesting.

BoswellsBollocks · 14/12/2018 18:57

It really is nice believe me.

Although the 70s and Woman’s own weren’t exactly known for good taste Grin

bananasandwicheseveryday · 14/12/2018 18:59

I see your cheese and pineapple on sticks and raise you a chicken and mushroom vol-au-vent. Made with left over roast chicken, cold cooked mushrooms mixed with condensed cream of chicken soup and dolloped into a vol-au-vent case. Food of the gods.

UrsulaPandress · 14/12/2018 19:03

Water melon feta and mint???

Fancy shmancy modern stuff

No, I'm allergic to cheese.

jessstan2 · 14/12/2018 19:08

Yes! Coincidentally I saw it in a television drama scene just a couple of days ago and thought to myself, no-one seems to do that now. I love it.

Trills · 14/12/2018 19:09

Genuinely one of my favourite party snacks.
