Distraction ideas while I wait for results of tests on unborn baby please.

My 12 week scan showed signs that suggest there may be a problem with my baby. I'm awaiting the results of the first of potentially many stages of tests (Harmony Test). It's hard to think about anything else/not check my email every 3 minutes.

How can I distract myself? Any website recommendations - Facebook etc is full of baby related ads thanks to all the googling I've been doing!

Films or books, although realise that might not be possible with work. Maybe treat yourself to something nice. Can you find something to occupy yourself with this weekend? A trip to a Christmas market? Xx

Sorry to hear that, I still remember the wait for my CVS results. Keep busy - can you go out and meet friends? Ideally close friends just in case it all comes pouring out. Go to the library and get engrossed in a really good book?

Website suggestions - Houzz.co.uk is a baby free zone if you are into interiors at all. How about lolcatz or similar. Buzzfeed for trashy news. You may need to turn off cookies or clear your cache —I don’t really know what that means— if you don’t want the ads to follow you round the net though.

Great ideas, thanks. Have taken the day off work - but should probably have gone in and been busy! Think I will take DD2 Christmas shopping then hit Buzzfeed while she naps.

I remember that wait. Horrible.

I tried to keep busy at work where no one knew about the pregnancy.

Random website - Geoguesser. Uses google maps to place you somewhere in the world and you need to look at your surroundings and move around to guess where you are. Read signs, side of road cars are driving etc.

My results came back after 5 days. They phoned me first then sent an email. Was nearly 4 years ago so may be quicker now.

Good luck

That site sounds great, thank you @madeforthis.

I had the test on Saturday so hoping I hear soon! Though I guess the clinic probably didn't get the bloods til Monday or Tuesday.

And thanks to you, @minipie and @asmuchuseasamarzipandildo for your good wishes, it helps. It's just a horrible time and I fluctuate between optimism and despair.

I've been in your situation, so stressful and hard to focus on anything else. How about watching a box set? Hope it all works out.

JellySlice · 14/12/2018 14:09

Do you knit or crochet? I find these activities very soothing when my mind is deeply unsettled. They demand just enough attention that I cannot ruminate.

Hope it all works out well for you and yours.

SylvanianFrenemies · 14/12/2018 15:50

Thank you both. It's hard to watch any decent box sets when the kids are around, unfortunately. I hadn't thought to knit. Haven't done it for years, but will look out my needles.

Maybe a few Christmassy days/evenings out? A Christmas market, garden centre, film at the cinema type thing.

Wishing you all the best OP Flowers

Were you hoping to get the results today OP? Shit one if you have to wait until next week Sad

SylvanianFrenemies · 14/12/2018 16:51

Yes, I hoped for today, but they've told me in will be Monday afternoon. Good that I can stop the constant checking, but feel so nervous.

JudasPrudy · 14/12/2018 18:54

Ah good luck op. Distraction is the only method. When I'm nervous I clean my house!

MadeForThis · 14/12/2018 19:01

At least you won't be waiting for a phone call all weekend.

Wrap presents. Christmas shopping. Visit Santa.

Good luck

SylvanianFrenemies · 15/12/2018 09:14

Thank you everyone. I've taken on a lot of the suggestions. I can thoroughly recommend geoguessr, thanks @madeforthis
