Workplace bullying

Carlyrichards · 13/12/2018 23:11

I am being bullied at work. I have been bullied/undermined/intimidated by more than one person at my place of work. I am beginning to wonder if there is something wrong with me. However from my employers point of view, I am a valued member of staff. My appraisals are very good. I have good working relationships with many colleagues. I am polite, courteous and professional. Why does this keep happening to me? What am I doing wrong?

Is the person bullying you your superior?

Carlyrichards · 13/12/2018 23:38

No they are colleagues. More senior in terms of experience but I dont report to them.

If you don’t mind, what exactly are they doing to you and what have you done or said in return?

Sorry this is happening to you.

Carlyrichards · 13/12/2018 23:44

Being vague but undermining my work, saying I have made errors when I haven't. I have clear evidence that I haven't made errors.

Management only really want to downplay it.

Why are they commenting if you don't report to them? Are they trying to be helpful or just being plain mean? Can you give nay specific examples? It's hard to comment as your post is quite vague.. Can you just keep your distance so they don't have access to undermine you? Perhaps you can think of one or two phrases that you repeat when this happens to acknowledge their "feedback" but shut down the conversation.. Eg "ah is that how you do it? I find this works for me better.. But I'll check with superior. Thanks.

Unless you give examples no-one can be sure of what is happening.

Carlyrichards · 14/12/2018 00:13

I can't give examples as it would be outing. Thanks for the advice so far. I will be speaking to an employment lawyer tomorrow.

You have my sympathy.

I've had this for 4 years. The company is doing nothing. All proper channels followed, grievances upheld and deathly silence is all I have.

So pissed off and bitter.

Good luck tomorrow. I'm thinking I will do something similar.

Carlyrichards · 14/12/2018 01:31

Thanks Sheldon. Good luck to you too. I am still up as I can't sleep. In a bit of a state.

Hey, I’m here.

You don’t need to go into the details but I’m really glad you’re going to do something about it.

It can be so hard with these issues to actually speak up. The bully, has probably noticed they can get away with it, with you.

Fuck knows what they have going on in their own life but they’re getting thrills out of making yours miserable.

No more!

What’s on your mind?

Carlyrichards · 14/12/2018 01:44

Thank you. I am so angry, that is why I can't sleep. I was just off to bed to try again.

Some people have the most enormous egos. I can't deal with this anymore - as in job wise - not planning to self harm in any way at all - just to clarify.

People are absolute dicks!

I’m really glad you’re going to do this. It’s a step forward for you.

When you’re there tomorrow just remember you aren’t alone.

Troels · 14/12/2018 07:51

Keep proof of their bullying if you have it so they cant deny it.

Monny1 · 14/12/2018 07:58

Good luck for today.

citiesofbismuth · 14/12/2018 11:08

Without backup from management it's extremely hard to address this. Gather evidence.

Youmatter · 14/12/2018 21:41

How’d you get on today?

Carlyrichards · 14/12/2018 23:32

Thank you. I have pages and pages of evidence. No one seems interested. I didn't get chance to speak to an employment lawyer today. I am hoping to call Acas in the next couple of days and am actively job hunting. Thanks all Flowers
