Difference between MacBook, Air and Pro?

I'm very tentatively looking at MacBooks. The main attraction is that they're lightweight and not depending on bloody Windows who drive me insane with updates and configuring at inconvenient moments. However, I know Apple is eye wateringly expensive.

But - what are the main differences between the 'normal' MacBook, MacBook Air and MacBook Pro?

MacBook Air seems to weigh more than regular MacBook which seems counterintuitive to me Confused and the Pro seems vastly more expensive than the other two - so if I rule out the Pro (as I assume it's aimed at high volume portable working with images/ film) what's the main difference between the other two?

What one would you go for? If you were looking for a general all rounder laptop, with some Photoshop and Illustrator use?

If you go for the entry level 13” Pro, it’s obly £50 more expensive than the new MacBook Air. We were recommended to go for the Pro over the Air as it’s much faster. The MacBook is the same price as the Pro though I thought?

I bought a MacBook 2015
It's amazing.
I did a big sheet of all the specs, as I wanted it fast and lots of memory.

I did hunt a few down on eBay and bid on one and got it. Yes risky, but it's worked perfectly, and the seller had kept and included every bit of packaging it came with, and also did a factory reset.

Got it for under £700, so saved a huge amount of money. The new new ones are really very small and light, I just wanted one that I can fit in my handbag. And yes it's gold!
I'm very happy with it

I did think MacBook and Air were about £1k each? And the Pro almost double? Will have to go back to check. Interesting that the Pro is so much faster. I don't know if it'd make a difference to me with the type of work I'd be doing on it.

Don't think I'd have the balls to buy something like that on Ebay! I'm studying at the moment, which means I can get a 5% or 10% discount which is why I'm sort of looking at the minute.

I’d definitely go with an air unless you use photoshop/illustrator for work rather than just occasionally for fun, in which case the pro would work better

Yep any would handle Photoshop ok, the specs these days are so good

i love my macbook air, its a 11inch version from 2015 and runs faster than my year old windows laptop
i bought it from amazon refurbished earlier this year
