Should I introduce myself?

So I'm moving house soon, going from a detached to a semi and I mentioned to my dp that I was gonna knock on our neighbours door to say hello and introduce myself. He thinks this is weird and that no one does this, do people do this? I never have before

We spent a year renovating our home before we moved in so I sent round a bunch of flowers to the properties either side to say sorry for any disturbance and then they both came to me..

I think if it wasn't for the fact I felt the need to apologise about any noise I wouldn't have bothered..

I think that's what making me want to go round, in case of noise. Cause we're in a detached atm we're used to making as much noise as we want, playing music as loudly as we want etc. Sometimes our dog has a mad 5 minutes and starts barking so I don't want to get off on the wrong foot
