Smart thinking? Or would this upset you too?

I can't figure out if I'm just being a little over sensitive or not.

Dh has some novelty 'dad' boxers his mum got him, and he wears them when he occasionally goes out for a drink. He told me that although he loves me and would never cheat on me, if he had too many drinks and got into that situation, the boxers would remind him what he has at home.

I'm just going through a basket of clean laundry, and saw them there. I don't know, it kind of upsets me that he feels he needs to wear them.

We do have a very happy, loving marriage with a baby and toddler. Am I just being too sensitive here?

Frankly, if he's got to the position where he's revealed his underwear to some notional drunken shag-partner, all bets are off, surely? Hmm

Procne · 13/12/2018 18:52

I mean, he seems to be saying it's the equivalent of stapling a photo of your husband to the gusset of your knickers, so that when you are slipping out of them, you suddenly go 'DOH! Forgot I was married!' and put them back on...?

LettuceP · 13/12/2018 18:53

I wouldn't like that either

Loopytiles · 13/12/2018 18:53

No, why on earth would he do and tell you that?!

Bunnyhop1502 · 13/12/2018 18:54

I would hit the roof if DH had to wear a pair of tacky pants to remind him not to cheat! Good lord throw them in the bin.

PinkHeart5914 · 13/12/2018 18:54

I think if his cock was hard, he was drunk a pair of pants saying dad ain’t stopping nothing!

If you love your partner the you never tend to ever be about to shag others.....

ScreamingValenta · 13/12/2018 18:54

He shouldn't need reminding. And if things had progressed to the stage where he was taking off his pants, he'd already have crossed the line in my opinion.

Sitranced · 13/12/2018 18:55

Sounds like a clumsy way of saying he doesn't intend to cheat but it doesn't mean that he won't.

cushioncuddle · 13/12/2018 18:56

Has he just said it stupidly but not meant it ?
He was putting them on and they probably do remind him of you but it was I meant drivel.
People do say stuff without engaging brain and thought.

Clementineandflower · 13/12/2018 18:58

He actually made a point of having a conversation about it, so is being genuine.

Thanks everyone, I wasn't sure if I was being over sensitive about it.

What a stupid thing to say

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 13/12/2018 19:05

So he's basically admitting that he might get drunk and attempt to sleep with someone? That's the bottom line, isn't it? Not the pants! I would be asking him what the help he means by it - it's just not the sort of thing you say to your partner!

Clementineandflower · 13/12/2018 19:08

I really don't think he'd cheat on me, we are very happy. It just took me by surprise when he told me this a few months ago, and get reminded of his thinking whenever I see them in the laundry.

He needs a reminder that's he's married and not to fuck anyone else? Confused

Crunchymum · 13/12/2018 19:37

If he needs reminding he is married and shouldn't be shagging about, maybe a nice facial tattoo will help??

"I am married" across his forehead??

ScreamingValenta · 13/12/2018 19:48

I don't think it's a sign of him intending to cheat, but it is quite an arrogant 'I could cheat if I wanted to' type of statement.

It suggests an image of him bravely repelling hordes of lustful women with his trusty 'dad' boxers!

Robin2323 · 13/12/2018 20:01

Really don't worry about this.
Men can say the most unromantic things.
I think he was clumsily trying to say how much he loves you and the kids.
Buy him soon new pants for Christmas and hide the others at the bottom of a draw somewhere.
In a few months say you are sorting some out stuff for the charity shop (then bin them ).

Clementineandflower · 13/12/2018 20:14

screamingvalenta haha, that made me laugh!

I think the boxers may have to disappear soon.

You could play him at his own game and get a pair of girlie boxers that say 'Mum' on them!
