NHS flexi hours/ core hours

If you work for the NHS in an office do you have core hours and flexibility around what hours you work? Or do you have set start and finish times?

Started a new job a few months ago and I assumed the way my line manager set our working times was the norm but there's been lots of discussions about how it's just our office run like this. Colleagues tell me that it's usual to have core hours which you can work flexibly around. I'm moving offices soon and wondering if it will be different there. I'm curious about how other nhs offices run and if others have set hours or flexibility?

I don't work for the nhs but worked with them in another service. Flexibility and core hours very much depended on business need.

For example, my (non nhs) core hours were 10-3 with flexible hours either side as long as we were meeting our hours give or take 2 days each month.

By contrast, the nhs office staff were required to be in between 8-5, although this did get re-negotiated to 8:30 as it caused issues elsewhere in the service.

The idea was from 8:30-9, the office staff would be doing the prep for the clinicians meetings etc. Otherwise everyone would turn up for 9am and they'd find documents weren't ready (something about confidentiality prevented them being printed and stored in a locked cupboard the night before) which would delay meetings and have a knock on effect throughout the day.
