If my husband normally gets paid on the last working day of the month...

Then what date will his December pay go in?

The 31st is a Monday but I'm wondering if it may hit his bank account early?

Money is tight (hence the username 😏) so we're literally counting the days now.

Thanks.

I think you will have to work on it going in on 31st as it's a normal working day, sorry.

boringlyboring · 12/12/2018 16:52

The employer will normally inform you if pay will be earlier in December. NYE is still a working day I think

evilharpy · 12/12/2018 16:53

Everywhere I’ve ever worked had an early payday in December. It’s on Wednesday 19th this year. But you’d be informed if this was the case. Could he not give payroll a quick call?

Dillydallyingthrough · 12/12/2018 16:54

I get paid on the last working day, and will be paid on the 31st as it's a normal working day. Sorry I know that's probably what you wanted to hear.

Gizlotsmum · 12/12/2018 16:55

My husband is being paid on the 20th this year ( I think) which is ridiculously early ( normally last working day. I appreciate why but it just makes January seem longer till payday

mycatplotsdeath · 12/12/2018 16:55

I get paid on the last day of the month and it will be the 31st

Dillydallyingthrough · 12/12/2018 16:56

*not

Stupid auto correct

moneyworries8 · 12/12/2018 16:57

I didn't explain that well at all, sorry. His pay day isn't being brought forward this month unfortunately. I just wondered if with their being bank holidays around that time, if it would end up coming in maybe before the weekend. Sounds as though that won't be the case 😔 thanks all.

If you budget for it going in any earlier January will be an extremely long month.

It may hit earlier, lots of businesses when I used to work in banking paid on 16th in December.

Good luck

ginnybag · 12/12/2018 16:59

If it's last working day, then - unless you are specifically told differently - it will be the 31st.

TBH, a lot of companies do traditionally pay early, but (and it's a big but) Universal Credit has also changed that policy for quite a few.

Paying early is supposed to be a bit of perk for the staff; it's not, if it fucks them over in January by having them earn too much in the Dec pay period and therefore stopping their claim!

ILikTheBred · 12/12/2018 17:02

I used to work in treasury for a large company. We paid on or around the 20th of December to ensure any issues could be resolved and so that we only needed a skeleton staff over Christmas. It meant January was a long month however !

Unless you hear otherwise I’d assume it’ll be the 31st - sorry.

MrsGrindah · 12/12/2018 17:07

I’m paid 31st but it goes in on midnight last working day before so I think there’s a chance mine will be available from the Sat ( though it shows up on a statement still as 31st) and I can withdraw from it. I wouldn’t advise depending on that though

Simonsaysitschristmas · 12/12/2018 17:11

I’ve already been paid my December pay packet...January will be a very long month indeed.

OP, if money is tight could DH ask work to bring it forward this month? Companies are normally understanding with December being an expensive month.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/12/2018 17:27

I used to hate getting paid early for Xmas, made January a long month.

I get paid 4 weekly now. So next pay day is 4th Jan.

Jojobythesea · 12/12/2018 17:29

My husbands getting paid this Friday ShockShockShockConfused crazy crazy early. Going to have to put it in another account till the end of the month 😂

SoyDora · 12/12/2018 17:31

Yes, as the 31st is a normal working day it will go in on the 31st.

Fluffyears · 12/12/2018 21:33

Mi d is in on 21st and i’m No I got all out to another account till the end of the month. The 31st is a normal working day so if his pay is confirmed as 31st that’s when it’ll arrive.
