Help! Do babies sleep more when poorly?

My 14 month old son has had a cold since Monday. Temp up to 39.2, down to 38.5 with Calpol . Snotty etc. He's off his food so just being breastfed regularly, still offering food obviously.

He's been napping normally bar needing to be with me instead of on his own, however this morning he has been asleep since 0910. He woke up initially at just before 10, I took his temp, gave him some Calpol and he nodded straight off again. He's been asleep on me ever since, with a stir every hour or so.

Is this normal or something I should worry about? How long do I let him sleep for?!

That’s a lot of sleep. What is his temp? I would take him to GPS to get him checked.

It was 38.4 when he woke and had Calpol earlier. So not as high as it has been, but he was unhappy so thought bringing it down might help

I would make a GP appointment to get him checked over. First I would check you can actually wake him up. Keep a close eye on him and if things get worse then re-evaluate the situation .

Have you checked him over for any rash?
Any rash go straight to a doctor/ out of hours etc

Neverunderfed · 12/12/2018 13:28

I've woken him, he seems quiet but alert. No signs of a rash, if he hasn't perked up in the next hour will try 111.

Thanks for responding, I have two older children but still don't know what I'm doing! 😂
