Looking for some advice about London

I'm going to a sporting event next year in Ally Pally. I booked in for the afternoon but have got a bit excited and booked for the evening too. As it's sport there is no obvious finish time as it just depends on how it goes. It's a Sunday evening and I am going on my own. My hotel is in central London and I'm now concerned about getting back on my own safely.

Have I been stupid by getting that evening ticket? It's possibly finishing around 10-11pm

You’ll be fine. There’ll be loads of people about. Just know your route and a back up in case the original has delays/tube strikes

I'm assuming it's a big event and loads of people will be leaving together. I've been to concerts there and the local streets are busy with a good atmosphere.

Ally pally (Alexandra palace) is on main line train line into kings x and Liverpool Street so you could walk down to the station and jump train into central.
It’s relatively safe when leaving after an event and well marked but would not be safe with no crowds around.

It will be fine. London is pretty safe imo. I've never felt scared or threatened. Busy places feel safer to me.

Main line train goes through Highbury and Islington station so you can change there to on to Victoria line depending where in central London you need to be. Or change at Finsbury Park on to Picadilly line if that is better for your hotel. Plenty of chain hotels around Islington which may have made more sense if you can cancel the one in central London (Islington is pretty central)

You’ll be fine. There’ll be a big sea of people leaving the venue so you’ll go with them either to the Ally Pally train station or on the bus to a tube station, and you’ll get to Central London by (worst case) 11:30 on a Sunday evening - just be sure to walk along the largest streets from the tube/station to your hotel. It’ll be busy but I promise you it’s not unsafe.

You’ll be perfectly fine. There are regular buses as well as the train. Just go to tfl and fiddle around on the “plan my journey” feature. Alexandra Palace is a pretty safe area in my opinion if that’s the issue. Have fun!

You will be absolutely fine, enjoy your event!
