Looking for equivalent of slimline bathroom storage container (for small bathroom)

Wonder if anyone can help?

Many years ago - when Lakeland was known as Lakeland Plastics (! Blush ) - I bought a slimline storage container designed for small bathrooms.

It was stainless steel (or something similar) and fitted in that dead space between the toilet and the bath panel (or wall). And it was big enough to fit bleach bottles, Mr Muscle, cleaning cloths etc.

It’s now a bit worse for wear and I would like to get a replacement. Lakeland don’t do them anymore and for the life of me I cannot find an equivalent - only white wooden / mdf ones (largely self-assembly), nothing in stainless steel. I have tried Argos, B&Q, John Lewis and Amazon. (Plus of course Lakeland).

I attach a couple of pictures by way of illustration. Measurements are 13cm width x 28cm depth x 35cm height.

It looks rather like a sanitary disposal bin, so perhaps searching on those terms might throw up something suitable?

LateKate · 11/12/2018 20:11

Lloyd Pascal used to make one like that in a white shaker style, you could try searching Amazon or just generally googling but they are a manufacturer rather than a supplier so it's finding someone that sells them.

Very lightly sand the top, then spray it all over with white or silver Plasticote spray?

Skatersbeskating · 11/12/2018 20:17

Or just use Jif/Brasso on it first?

Skatersbeskating · 11/12/2018 20:20

Silvo not Brasso!

Argos' finest white shaker style slimline box- mine's going strong still after 10 years

UtterlyDesperate · 11/12/2018 20:24

And it's £1.99 cheaper than it was in 2008 AngryGrin

KMoKMo · 11/12/2018 20:24

Argos do a white wooden one.

Argos home slimline shaker unit with lid - white.

I can’t do clicky links but it’s £18.

agedknees · 11/12/2018 20:27

Homebase, already assembled.

Saw the Argos white one ( and similar others on Amazon) - was hoping for stainless steel. Though the poster who says it looks like sanitary disposal may have put me off

OP posts:
Aridane · 11/12/2018 20:48

otterly - how can it be cheaper than in 2008?

OP posts:
UtterlyDesperate · 11/12/2018 20:51

I paid £19.99 for it back then! Though presumably, with cost of living and all that, £18 today probably isn't literally cheaper Grin

UtterlyDesperate · 11/12/2018 20:54

Sorry, I'd managed to miss the bit where you didn't want a white one Blush (must have been the sanitary bin imagery...)

Have you tried reverse image searching on Google?

IWantToUseAnApostrophy · 11/12/2018 22:27

Bit left field but … www.amazon.co.uk/Ash-Box-Galvanised-Fires-Woodburners/dp/B0076L9VC4

TheWoollybacksWife · 11/12/2018 22:41

Try cleaning it with Barkeepers Friend before you get rid. I had a stainless steel toilet roll stand that was looking a bit grim I blame DS's poor aim and it came up like new.

Aridane · 12/12/2018 13:17

Goodness Iwant - how did you manage to think of thT?

OP posts:
Aridane · 12/12/2018 13:19

Am a tad embarrassed - have put item in dishwasher and then polished with stainless cleaner and it has come up might brighter and shinier - well, other than the lid which is irretrievably damaged due to corrosive drain cleaner leaking there,(and the lid of course is the main thing in sight...)

Things move slowly in the Aridane household...

Decided to go for a new slimline storage unit, ditching the idea of a steel one and instead going for the nice white Shaker style wooden one referred to above by UtterlyDesperate and KMoKMo from Argos

However, that one is 17cm wife (as is the Homebase one shown by agedknees) and my current one is 13cm.

Alas, my, the space is not big enough for a grand width of 17cm - it can only accommodate 14cm - whereas 17cm width seems to be standard for 'slimline' storage units

Aridane · 05/05/2019 13:47

So...

OP posts:
Aridane · 05/05/2019 13:47

Would anyone be able to signpost me to a small bathroom storage unit no wider than 14cm?

OP posts:
imsorryiasked · 05/05/2019 14:05

this ones 15cm

imsorryiasked · 05/05/2019 14:25

There are lots of slimline kitchen trolleys but they are open sided so I assume not suitable?

Aridane · 05/05/2019 14:31

Looking for something closed really to hide those bathroom cleaning products.

15cm is just a smidgeon too wide...
